Most of the surgeries on patients are carried out successfully, according to their patient’s satisfaction. However, on occasion mistakes unfortunately do happen, errors which should not have occurred, but resulted in the detrimental injury of the patient. In any form of surgery, there is always an element of risk involved. These risks should be carefully explained to the patient before the surgery goes ahead, so that they can consider the possible complications that could arise. However, the risks in surgery should not be confused with errors made during the surgery. Careless mistakes such as performing the operation on the wrong body part, or leaving pieces of equipment behind in the patient are errors for which the surgeons could be held liable. If you have been under the hands of such an error, you may be entitled to make a surgery error compensation claim.

Like most medical negligence claims, you have a three year period in which to bring forward your claim. Nevertheless, in some instances the error may not become apparent until a much later date. In these circumstances your three year period will not begin on the date of your surgery, but the actual date you became aware of the error and injury.

Types of surgical errors that give rise to a claim:

Complications with laser eye surgery

Performing the wrong type of operation

Operations being performed on the wrong part of the body

Performing the wrong type of operation

Damaging any nerves or tissue during the surgery

Errors in cosmetic surgery

Errors with anaesthesia, such as becoming aware during the surgery

How to make the surgical error claim

If you decide to make a surgical error claim, there will be a few hurdles that will need to be overcome. Firstly, it is necessary to show that it was the negligence of the surgeon, or medical practitioner that caused the injury to the patient. The treatment method of the surgeon will be compared to other medical practitioners in the same speciality. It will have to be shown that no other reasonable medical practitioner in the same speciality, would have performed the procedure in the same way, and that the outcome would have been different, had the procedure been performed in a different way.

Following the surgical procedure you should make a complaint to the hospital where you had your surgery, to ensure that the matter is fully investigated. You may gain an explanation for the error, and once the hospital is notified, it should take steps to ensure that an error like this does not occur again. However, it is unlikely that you will be compensated. Therefore, it will be useful to you to contact a clinical negligence solicitor who will be able to assist you in your case, and advise you on the best way to proceed.

Medical negligence compensation

Our clinical negligence solicitors are experienced in dealing with surgical error cases and will assist you in your case, should you decide to seek compensation for your pain and suffering. The effects of a surgical error can be quite traumatising, and in some cases you may be psychologically affected. We will provide you with the best legal advice, in order for you to make a decision on how to proceed.

There is so much to ponder as we try to operate in our daily lives and continue in charting a certain path the concept of freedom comes into play. Some people have gotten fired from a job only to find it was a relief. What does that say about where they were then? There are so many other possibilities further down the road not even pondered. The concept of further maneuvering or going in any given direction has dealings with freedom. Give me some space, give me a little time, give me some breathing room, or at least give me a chance. Give me a chance to get to the next page, turn a new leaf, and close this chapter finally. You never know how things are going to some move or at what at least one move on the chess board might give you. Sometimes what I want to do is monitor a situation for its movement. Other barometers commonly used such as cash flow may not be good enough. Is the t movement I want or like within all this? Or do I really want to catch that first big wave out of here? Also related is the concept of personal autonomy, of being or doing things on my own, assisting my own cause. Maybe freedom will bring a new dawn for you, it is a new Century and we are past the dawning of the Age of Aquarius. Somewhere out there is a happy future for you and me that might yet come into view.

To recover is something that might not always be as big or as steep as you think it needs to be . Sometimes a recovery process might be monumental. Then we think, everything I need to recover from is monumental when in fact it might not be as big a recovery involved in other cases where things could be on the mend rather quickly and easily. For example, my finances might have me in trouble to the point that I can’t picture it otherwise. But maybe the right scenario would come along and it would be a rather easy and not so big a deal to recover my financial position. It might take only one or two things to happen to pick me up and get me back on the horse again.

Try to view each of your options in very optimistic fashion, even if you are only exercising one option at a time. For example, I might be trying out a new field, really on a trial basis and it is going fairly well. I don’t want to disparage what other real options could also still be for me career wise. Sometimes we artificially devalue other options to justify the choice we are making. By doing this, I am trying to narrow the field, but I am also narrowing my outlook by bringing clouds into a projected situation that in fact might not be there People might do this in dating, when they more look for something wrong, and never picture the optimistic view of this person, even momentarily. At least momentarily, try to view all your options optimistically as this is more of a freedom view of the situation. I’m having a bad job interview; I can say that I can still be President of the United States .

There is a lot of what we deal with that hits on issues of personal autonomy and has dynamics related to this. We might be searching for that lacuna, the missing part of our personal landscape that might seem to complete our dreams for the time being.

This is not just ceremonial freedom for all but freedom with a substantial purpose to me. Not necessarily that elusive freedom but that which pertains to something that is eminently possible.

There needs to be a freedom to address that which stays with us, those issues that hang around and keep knocking at our doors must then be addressed in some fashion and my stuck feet can only move if I can somehow find that freedom.

A question for anybody is how can I best use this. I still have this talent, this circumstance, this understanding, and this enlightenment. How can it be used to its utmost advantages for myself and possibly others? We can look to freedom and how it can still to be extended while we still have a chance. Freedom to look at and summon evidence from afar and the evidence that is close by, observing that which seems to stay with us. What do I still have? Do I still have the ability to read a book even though I have not read anything in weeks? Does its use extend into the idea of free use, and do I need to extend into free paths or free lanes on the highway of freedom to use these gifts?

One of the things I might be doing is trying to pinpoint something. However, my ability to pinpoint my way just may not be there at least to the degree I hoped for. I may be trying to pinpoint in major or minor ways. If I can pinpoint the lottery numbers, I might well be on the way to a financial fortune. I can steal the day.

Not everything is going to be a straightforward find. You might have to meander to find something or stumble upon something you want. You don’t want to discount the finding, or discovery, just because it didn’t appear in a straightforward manner, as an option or opportunity is just as real and valid even if found in less than expected ways.

Don’t say I’m 100 percent this or 100 percent that because you end up taking away freedom from how you view yourself and you want to peruse different aspects of yourself and your personal gifts. If you’re transitioning in terms of your career, you could still look back and see parts of the career you are leaving as highlighting some talents, even though you weren’t a 100 percent into it. Someone dating is taking away options if they say they are 100 percent this way or that way and it might also take away from adjustment processes that can be made.

If someone goes on a date, and there isn’t a fraction of an interest on the other person’s part, then they can call it a day. But there might be fraction of a interest and you may or may not wish to proceed. And this can apply to reading interests or other interests as well where a fraction still remains, and you can take a chance on fractions if you wish to.

I was talking to a friend who hesitated to go back to a scenic locale she spent some time in, because she had such a good time, she didn’t think her next experience could match this. The subtle psychological ploy here, is that people do not want to dilute their experiences. They don’t give themselves freedom to go back to something that has gone well, because if it doesn’t continue to go well, then they have diluted the initial experiences which did go well. It does tie in a bit to the fear of success syndrome, going into the idea that I had a little success, I had a good time, lets just leave at that, preserve the experience and forget about trying for more. There could be some truth to this, how many times have movie buffs seen back to back movies, and the second movie dilutes the impact of the first in the moment. At the same time, I need to be aware just how in reality, I might not go forward because I just don’t want to dilute what has already gone well. It would be like someone taking and enjoying a course and also getting an A. Maybe they liked the teacher, the coursework and feel proud of the A. Taking another course, not liking it as much, and maybe not getting an A, would seem to dilute that experience. So I don’t give myself the freedom to try another course.

I can try to pinpoint, but I might be crossing into more difficult terrain here and there might be other things then that I could do that would be far easier. Sometimes the easier way is actually better; the easiest golf swing might get me the most in distance and accuracy.

An example of trying to pinpoint is reviewing financial data and trying to correlate this with a potential stock price or range for the stock price. Not only do I have to write this story, but I have to pinpoint just how this might be correlated to a stock price, and I just may not be able to pinpoint this, even if I am a pro. If even the pros have trouble pinpointing things, that says something about the endeavor itself. Already then, I can first come to an awareness, that I am to a degree trying to pinpoint, and I can freely lessen my attempts on this or increase them depending on what I want to do.

The survivalist mentality is not always where I want to be. For example, I go into a job, and I’m thinking, I just want to survive this day, or I go on a date, and I just want to survive it. In the meantime, for the situation to actually work well for you in the long run, it should more have the feel of a thriving situation.

I don’t when to set up protocol where the criteria are very strict and narrow before I do this. After all, who is to say if the opportunity is automatically going to be found in the stricter protocol I have set up, when the boundaries are often not up to me no matter what criteria I have set myself.

In sports, there is such a thing as for example in tennis tournaments as single game or double elimination, where you have to lose two games to be shown the exit. By what not in some of life’s other situations, where I make my own rules to an extent, can’t I eliminate on my own terms, maybe saying I’ll lose or give this ten tries before I take the fall?

Someone joked you complement my colors in talking about clothing. Maybe you can still get a woman to like you. Maybe you would complement her personality, her style, her humor, her looks or some of her other good qualities. Well what then are the colors of freedom that complement you and your hopes?

I spoke to someone who said about her job, sometimes when I take a walk at lunch, I want to just keep walking. If she did keep on walking, having felt this way about her job, did she really lose anything significant or that mattered to her. She would have probably laughed about her experience a few weeks. I might feel like I want to just keep on walking by sometimes.

We do need some adherence to norms, standards, to operate successfully in a systematized society. You and I are free to come 5 minutes late for a train but the train is not going to wait for us, because this train didn’t know you were coming. If the train had known you were coming, it would have waited, because you are the best. At the same time people find a real encroachment on their time, their focus, their ability to walk in the land, by outside forces. These forces can be institutional in nature or from institutions we have created. What happens is when we are walking on a course that seems to be less free we are compromising distinction. There are distinct ideas, distinct passions, distinct ways that can be examined if we stop compromising our freedom to go ahead.

The scientist needs some freedom to operate and further distinguish and identify what can be identified. In the animal kingdom there are a distinct number of classifications of animals, in the Brazilian forest a distinct range of plants and herbs some of which have been found to be useful for medicinal purposes. In the seas, there are distinct kinds and varied forms of aquatic life, some of it found at enormous depths of the sea beyond the reach of submarines. On the land, there are distinct views, from many places on the earth. In the movie Castaway, Tom Hanks turns in each direction from his view at the very top of the island and then his facial expression is telling when he observes the gigantic waves close to the islands shores on all sides will indeed, keep him away from the vast open calm sea,, that he is indeed surrounded by the huge waves at each run, castaway at every side and his expression is telling to his realization that this is what is. The planets and the stars are mysteries that can be observed. The Milky Way has distinct star systems that can be partially observed by eye in certain locations at certain times from the earth. Of course we can only get the view of the Milky Way from our particular location and vantage point.. But amongst such classifications such as these, the rivers, the classification of different plants, sea life, all yield to continued distinctions. So we need the freedom to find and make and determine distinctions.

Something to ponder for any situation, is where it the freedom located and where can I find the place of freedom in this situation? Is it close by, within the reach of who I am now, and where are the actual points of freedom to contend with?

Freedom from can involve a decision to circumvent or just not take that leap into a situation, not partake with the masses. This cause, that course can be bypassed or set aside for good. It is interesting how if people were involved with a course where they could design their own landscape, they would not include this and would never include that. Or they would always want this and never exclude that on the other side. If given the symbolic blank check what would people actually do with this? But some of the gifts we actually have can amount to blank checks that we can cash in on at some point with some freely applied effort, that concept doesn’t only apply to money and it’s remuneration but other maybe less tangible gifts. A great singing voice could be a blank check to the holder. But only you can cash that check because its your voice. The ability to appreciate the written word can be a blank check. Some athletic, intellectual, spiritual gifts and talents could constitute a blank check if you actually do something with these gifts in freedom, bypassing the previous restrictions coming from anyone including yourself. We have the blank check in so many ways we just don’t know how to cash it.

And then maybe we need to try again. We can’t do this unless we are free. If I seem to fail, and that failure is final, then I’m not free to try again. But the idea of trying again refers to the concept of freedom. It is documented that Thomas Edison needed to try again and again before he came to his famous inventions and discoveries that are still having a profound impact and spun at the time into whole industries. Results did not always come through right away for him, but often they came later on, after numerous tries.

The situation is that we might find ourselves in is getting into problem after problem. How free are we going to feel if we are always in the problem-solving mode, and nothing seems to feel right? The ground I walk on always seems to be falling out from under me. I can get to the starting line, but my sneakers can’t grip the track. How can I race for the gold? How can I erase this sinking feeling? At this point it would be great to just walk on solid ground again.

And what are my primary interests and what radiates from that in freedom. My first interest might be to read historical fiction but that could radiate entertainment, diversion from the routine, stimulating my imagination, stirring forth emotions and obtaining some factual history which was weaved into the fictional account. Does friendship radiate from romance or does romance radiate from friendship? It all depends on the individuals involved and how they see it, and it can change for each of them as they go along. Friendship could have been the primary motivation, which then radiated into romance, or the reverse may have been true.

All this calls into question the idea of ownership. We work with these ideas when we say we have x amount of dollars, we own a certain amount of property or we own a variety of material items. If we are going to work with the concept of ownership, maybe we should consider the idea of having friends, contacts, good health, native intelligence and common sense, life experience, a given set of knowledge, an ability to generate new and exciting ideas or any other concept that has personal meaning to us can be put under the conceptualizations of ownership. I own this experience, at least for a while. Maybe we need to bring more under the concept of ownership to move forward in freedom. Ability at times justifies its use in freedom. Substitute the word power for talent or for ability. I have the power to sing for example.

And then who owns the sun? Who owns the ocean, the rivers, the mountains and the falling snow? There was a movie, the journey to the center of the Earth. Who was owner of that center of the earth?

Say you go to the beach. They charge you 12 dollars at the toll for the beach, 5 dollars for the parking, 2 dollars for the sun, 2 dollars for the ocean itself, a dollar for the sea breeze, and another two for the sea air. Could something like this happen? Look at how many of us pay 2 dollars a bottle for water.

Does the sun make its appearance just for you? Maybe it does at times. But that doesn’t mean we own it. Is it yours, is it mine, would you be my Valentine?

I might have stockpiled all sorts of assets never to use them. Ever hear of the expression, the state has seized their assets. This applies to bankruptcy or similar legal proceedings. But maybe we should seize our own assets and do something with them before its too late.

And then we can consider whether we should refer anything to the concept of ownership. Do I own anything at all? Even the money I have in the bank has no value except as a form of correspondence that will get me some other form of correspondence. Many things I have don’t take on its value until it’s used. So the paradox is, if I don’t use something, I don’t put as much value on it. I can hit a baseball 400 feet plus, but I almost never play baseball. So the value of being able to hit a baseball 400 feet goes down for me. I could potentially run a 4-minute mile, but I haven’t run in 2 years. So I do not value my running ability as much as when I am running or did actually run.

So we can look at almost anything and say, what do I own here, should I refer this to the concept of ownership. Anything that is suddenly taken away from you or me is probably something we felt we owned. So our good health, if it is suddenly compromised, is something we would love to have back. Take this test, what do you have that if you lost it, you would love to get back? I might be more likely to sing if I felt I owned a good voice. I might be more likely to talk to people if I felt I owned good conversational abilities. So we can adjust our thinking back and forth based on whether we want to refer an individual situation to the concept of ownership or not refer to this concept at all. If we do that then we can say we don’t own the money in our personal banking account, it is just another good flowing into and out of my life and it is not something that I actually own. It all depends how we want to work with the concept. We could put time to the concept of ownership as an example. I own these hours. Anything that someone would pay for, that you have and they might not have or vice versa, is something that we could refer to ownership. Maybe you have a luxurious head of hair, and the person next to you on the train just wishes he or she that had that and would pay for that for themselves if it could be brought.

So the concept of ownership can cut across many personal landscapes. And the concept of ownership does have some relations to freedom. I don’t own this or I am not even renting it, so I can’t use it. We can take this concept across most of our dealings and we can see that it often does have subtle relations to freedom. Realistically, though, the concept of ownership does become vague as I stray away from the more concrete examples of this. Yet, this might be what stops me. I feel I need to own the situation, the opportunity, the chance, the moment, when, this is just the left over effect of feeling I need to own things before I proceed. Even, if I am a rich man or woman, technically just about all of what is out there I can’t legally claim ownership too. Even the richest people on the planet, can’t claim to own all that much. So I’ll have to proceed in with a sense of worthiness derived from some other source of thinking, depending on what I am doing. Getting back to the beach example, I pay 10 dollars to get on the beach, but after that, everything is free, such as the swim. Maybe I can say, I own this wave coming to shore. But the wave really could be for anyone.

I might possess this or be in possession of say a good sense of humor. The next step might be to activate on this, which might be hard to do in a gloomy atmosphere. Generally, I can think about some of the good assets and qualities I do possess, and why I have or haven’t chosen to activate upon them. If a firm gives me a debit card, I have to freely go and active on this card, before I put it into use.

So in designing a given landscape, there are some if not many options. Most people if they planted a garden might want strawberries, but if you really don’t want strawberries in your garden, why have them.

And leave some room for mercy in your personal garden for all things. Maybe we want freedom from certain individuals and the agenda they espouse, thereby leaving them off from our own personal landscape.

Say I have a job and it is to tie up the lines and throw out the anchor, or man the ropes in this boat. Legitimate hard work, but I really want another job on this boat, or maybe I don’t want to be on this boat at all. I can take my party elsewhere. I can jump ship to another job on the ship or I can literally jump ship, so in one fashion or another, I am free to do this, I am free to stay or leave.

Another thing that we see is that people come under a seeming umbrella that partly forms through their individual upbringing and the people and circumstances around them. Witness the movie the Godfather with Al Pacino and Mr. Brando. It was all within the big or enlarged family that the huge and uncertain drama takes place with some violent overtones. Not that this is necessarily bad to all viewers, but do I have the freedom to come out from under an umbrella that has set my feet on a certain path, if I wish. Even my concept of righteousness might form into a type of unseen umbrella, which keeps out the rain but also the sun, keeping me away from the bad and also some of the good. Can step off my personal high mountain and come into the valley of possibilities that were still waiting for me.

One possible way to seek out freedom in our thinking it to put equal weight on all considerations really just for the keep up of our thinking. If one of the considerations begins to lose weight, then that begins to tell us something. Fill all the balloons with air and due consideration and see which one loses air and loses it quickly. So you gave each balloon a chance.

Maybe I just want to be less weighed down. Look at the Olympic swimmers do they swim in blue jeans while going for the gold?

They were these special Speedo trunks which have the least resistance to water and weigh them down the least so they can move more freely towards that vaunted gold medal or even a silver or bronze medal.

You don’t have all the power but you need some freedom to play your part. And freedom does relate to power even if only in small ways. How can I be romantic with a girl if I can’t hold her hand? Denzel Washington gave a critically acclaimed performance as Ruben Carter in the movie Hurricane. He spends half the movie in jail, but even in jail he needed the leeway to give a charismatic performance.

Picture yourself at both ends of the spectrum you are considering. It is like being in a marathon and the middle of the race, make believe at that point you are at the end, or make believe you are at the beginning, even though you are still half way through. Then you might not get stuck in the middle in your thinking. I feel old at 30. Well fathom yourself at 40 and see how that feels and fits. Fathom yourself at 20 and see how you think about that. Take your thinking to each end of a given spectrum. Don’t always keep your thinking right in the middle, even if you actually happen to be located in the middle.

But the absolute key word to this particular process is the word apex. Are you at freedoms apex? We may have tripped several times or even have outright fallen. But we might still be at an apex for this opportunity. We have to at least consider the possibility that as much water as has gone over the fall or has not gone over the falls; we could be at the very apex right now for something we want to do. So we can’t say it’s too early or too late. Freedom does have its situational apex and we have to consider where and when it will be found.

I might have abandoned parts of myself to routine, isolating myself from the pomp and circumstance that I still look to with an envious eye, I’m almost married to the paycheck and the hours, holding on to this or that with the inability to let go and let live in the present, still waiting for that distant self I have yet to become before I say yes, or when my ruminations will finally bring me into the present time or find some landing point back in the real world I live in now. So maybe I’m ditching who I am today to my own loss, saying an early goodbye to my present concerns while trying to pinpoint them somewhere on that mostly uncertain, even mostly unknown map of the future. I am putting myself and my resources on a map I can’t even see yet because the arrival is to far in the distance time wise, a map that might not have formed in reality yet or may never form.

But for any difficulty or problem where are the points of freedom. Maybe I don’t do some of these things because I don’t feel free to having anything but a certain result. Then certainty becomes the manner of rule.

I’m operating within certain confines as to the results that I must have. I’m confined to my agenda of the moment, my most present agenda which I can’t seem to mix and match to the ever changing circumstances of the moment. Yes, I’ll go skiing but only if I get the most excellent rides down the slope and the snow is 2 feet deep… Yes, I’ll go fishing but only if they are running well and in visible schools and I’m certain of the catch. So, I control the D.J. as well. Play my songs, baby. Yes, I’ll go dancing but only if they play my songs all night long. Yes, I’ll listen to you in the here and now but only if you say what I want to hear and say it now.

There is no pat answer no guaranteed reference point no one size fits all. Our reference points themselves might be in motion, and we could be stymied by trying to run in tandem with them, or I hold on to my misguided belief that they remained stationary just for me. Does the world stand still for you and me? It used to. The party might be over by the time you get there. I ran all day, I got myself in great shape but the party was over. Why didn’t they wait for me? Maybe the trains will leave the door open for you and you can still catch it running. They actually depict this idea in some Westerns where they jump a moving train. Or even if our reference points aren’t in motion they seem to be. Ever park at a crowded beach parking lot and they go back and try to find where you actually parked among thousands of cars? Or sat in vast rows of people, and went out and came back trying to find exactly where you were sitting in the first place? Neither the car nor the rows moved from their original point but you lost your frame of reference, whatever that was. Maybe you parked next to a light post and you forgot that. Or you did have a lot going for you, and you forgot that. You were sitting next to a beautiful blond and you forgot that. I can reset my personal compass to a changing longitude. But many people feel annoyed, agitated, checkered, disappointed, and upset for reasons that ultimately refer to a sense of freedom. So look at any individual situation or idea we give a passing salute to and further reference the concept of freedom and what freedom means to you in this particular situation. As an exercise, you could write your thoughts under a headline, such as what does freedom mean to me in this situation. It is a valid headline because it is your headline. What does freedom mean to me as a garbage collector, as a translator of a foreign language, as a teacher, as a pursuer of knowledge in international events or sports, as a connoisseur of the movies? Take for example the movies, do you censor yourself and only go to certain movies. If you want, you are free to do this. You might want to avoid certain movies that are excessively or gratuitously violent. The degree of self-censorship is subject to personal freedom of choice with its various applications and continuing consequences.

We tend to look at freedom as some sort of global concept or right, but we need also to look at it on a more individual basis, and ponder its more personal meanings, resonance’s, and those personal practical applications. Freedom could be just another vantage point, taking in another view, the ability to bring something else into the forefront of my thoughts, helping decipher the language of the new and changing circumstances of the world I’m in. Freedom could be the right to seek in my own way, in whatever I want to seek, to take that more winding road with a different view when everybody else wants the straight path to the point of arrival. And then what is freedom herself pointing to for me, where does that finger of freedom point for me. The freedom to go back, in more than just memory only, it might be nostalgia but I really still like the Beatles and the tunes of the days gone by. I can’t go back to those concerts because I don’t have a time tunnel back, but I can still go back to the songs by record.

Maybe we can find encouragement within this freedom. For example, any ray of hope that might be found as we loosen those tightly held reins can be helpful towards feeling at home with this newly minted freedom, finally found along the way on a forming pathway. The most difficult paths might lead to a comforting oasis. Say for example, I run into tremendous traffic going to the beach. I begin to equate this with my upcoming experience at the beach. I finally get to the beach, everything is perfect, the setting, the scene, and the waves are just what I like. I find my oasis. So if I had turned around because of the difficult traffic, I would have missed this. So sometimes we need to realize although the trip to Oz might be difficult, it isn’t necessarily telling as to what Oz will be like. We never know when and where exactly the oasis can come up. The road to nirvana can be bumpy but we can still refer to nirvana in our thinking and our imaging’s if we want to. But maybe that oasis never came for you. It was a long and difficult road leading to another long and difficult road. But remember that this doesn’t mean that oasis wasn’t there, you might have just missed it, by taking a wrong turn and you might still find it, somewhere outside of the forest of your present difficulties.

And why was there so much traffic on the way to the beach. Everybody is looking for that oasis. Any large gathering, a popular concert, a packed movie theater or football stadium, represents a oasis for a large group of people.

I go to the racetrack, I bet my horses, I am free to make varied bets. Recently, I went to the racetrack, and bet a dollar to win on all 13 horses in a particular race. It was the Breeders Cup and all the horses had to be of a certain quality just to race, but yet some of these horses were in the range of 50 to 1 in this race, so there I had a chance at some long shot money. As it turned out a favorite came in and I got back only 7.50 back on the 13 dollars. But I was free to bet in this particular manner, the ticket I purchased showed one dollar to win, horses 1 thru 13. There is the freedom to make my bets and then change my bets if I wish.

I might say, I don’t want to tackle numbers in a work situation. So I wouldn’t be a financial analyst then. Don’t try and tackle something if it really is too big for you, imagine being in the NFL and trying to tackle refrigerator Perry or Ed ” Too tall Jones”. It would be a quite impossible for most people. Be realistic in what you are trying to tackle and this will free you up for more reasonable tries without going ahead with the feeling that you have to go overboard to make due.

And then this freedom of course includes freedom not to. This may be a way of holding to your position by not compromising your original stand. I want to good relationship with the opposite sex within a certain context or framework. This is not happening. So I can say I am free to do nothing in this area if I can’t find something within this context. Sometimes your best stance is to do nothing. Hold the line. You are free not to compromise your general outline. For example, I say I will not work in an office or a concern unless it’s with reasonably honest people. You find yourself in an office where dishonesty is rampart although it is highly unlikely that anybody will ever get caught. However, in your personal freedom watch, you are watching from the lens or scope of freedom, which allows you to quit this job, separating yourself from the situation, which is outside of parameters, which you will hold or adhere to as your choice. This freedom could include freedom from more extreme or widening risks or risk extraneous to your prior thinking on a subject including such thoughts and actions you are willing to take on. There are inherent risks to freedom and all its undertakings, but you don’t need to go overboard if you don’t have to. I saw a segment on TV where in a country where there resided one of the top ten poisonous snakes in the world, an individual captured one of these giant snakes with his bare hands in the outer forest, and held it from behind by the neck with his bare hand as he was getting it’s venom bring back to the science labs so the anti venom can be worked on, all the while talking to the camera about what he was doing. Maybe a good day job for this person, but not for me. Suppose he lost his grip on the snake and it turned for a quick bite. I think they said he would have about 7 minutes from that point. There was no anti venom yet because that is what he was working on. So we have the freedom to keep our parameters and basic outline, or to chuck it to the wind forever. Or we can change the parameters if we want to the degree we want. We can change 10 degrees, 30 degrees 50 degrees if you like, or go for the utmost and do a 180-degree turn.

I don’t have to assume all the risk upfront. I can work with the smaller outline as well as the larger outline. A common example is dating. I could say I want to go to the play and the amusement park for this date. But I might not want to also outline the date to try and determine whether this person is going to be a life’s mate. By doing this, I am trying also for a bigger outline than I necessarily have to, making the task seem larger and maybe more unapproachable. I am possibly increasing the perceived risk scenario when I don’t have to. Not only do I have to find the amusement park for the date, I only have to figure out on this date whether this person is a potential life mate, a tall task. I can just assume the smaller risk of today’s dating outline absence of imposing far reaching decisions.

Freedom could be the freedom to see the limits our dreams. You could have a dream job, a dream relationship, a dream trip in mind. All this might not be so easily obtained, but you can maintain that freedom in your vision, in how far can you see, and in seeing whether this was that ideal and truth which you really would have been happy with if in freedom you were able to see your dreams through. So freedom in its outlines sometimes deals with a sense of sight, we go forward with the open eyes of our choosing, ready to see if not greet the welcoming possibilities, not with eyes blindly following a preset agenda that could suddenly fall away, nor giving a blind eye to other not planned for truths or falsehoods as they come into sight. Seeing from your own personal lookout point, from your individual lighthouse where you can scan the tempestuous seas, from your watching point where you can at least begin to find out. And you could enlist friends, allies who can help in your walk towards freedom, looking in and out and beyond for you from this side or that side, scanning the new horizons on your behalf.

Think of the football scout looking at prospects for the pro’s or college at the QB position. He goes to a game, watches this QB prospect for two sets of downs and reaches a conclusion. Would you say this scout did a good and thorough job? He couldn’t even sit through the complete game or even a half a game. Sometimes we scout situations for ourselves or even make conclusions as to our own abilities without doing the proper homework or making conclusions in a quick summary fashion that just doesn’t let us project properly. We are finalizing our plans over very little evidence where more evidence can be had. Or the lights dim a little bit so I might as well pull the plug completely. This scout could have watched the complete set of plays on offense, and he might not have come to a qualified conclusion but he would have given himself a better chance to come up with a more objective and useful scouting report regardless. You can be free not to jump to conclusions so often especially when you didn’t do your homework and you know you didn’t.

Maybe your dream job was to be a TV repairman and when you go there you were half disappointed. But freedom did see me through to getting job, it is a good job, but I wanted to get there and find out if it was the final dream and maybe didn’t meet with me at that level. When you play your next deck of cards, deal in some freedom cards. Search for that freedom which finds out, which explores further into the still hopefully ample fields of tomorrows dreams.

There might be such a thing a soiled or spoiled freedom it’s less than I would have wanted ideally. So I have granulated coffee instead of its pure form. But hey I still wanted to stop at Starbuck’s and enjoy hanging out, so I’m here. And I’m still drinking coffee.

This idea freedom might cut across the time line. Can I free myself from what I thought about in the distant past, from the happenings and views of yesterday and the day before? Should I carry all things forward, or should I leave some things behind? For example, there have been people who have invested 4 years of their time in medical school, and did well in school, then decided they didn’t want to be a doctor. They took a more circular route to somewhere else. Or they did become a doctor but switched specialties. People have studied law for years and subsequently passed the bar exam and then practiced law. All free choices to divert from chosen fields of study, made without being forcibly compelled by the prior efforts to continue on a chosen path. And then I am free to selectively incorporate that which I will from my past journeys including that which has already told me yes I can. That word itself, selection, is such a key word. Who is doing the selecting for me and why? But we do sometimes carry the heavy baggage into the future, when we could just lighten up and drop it at the next station.

I also might think, what moves have I made towards what I want to do. I might be so entrenched in indecision, that looking back I realize I have made just about no moves on the chessboard. And in the game of chess, you have to make some moves, to get anywhere in the game. You can’t always know what the move will later entail due to the dynamics of the game itself. I can try this or that, but I never have perfect knowledge of how things are going to play.

It might not be worth it to go into a Herculean effort when the dam will burst or things will cave in as soon as you diminish or relinquish your efforts a bit. You might be holding things up or together by a shoestring.

A friend once told me, his major criteria for anything is, “Is it worth it?” Bring that question right to the forefront for consideration and it will help for sure.

Can I be free from the need to project into a future that I don’t see yet? Can I back away from the sunrise, by getting there or trying to get there before clarity and vision come? If I interview a prospective employee do I need to project that he or she will be a 5 year employee when I don’t even know if the company or its markets will be there in 5 years? Do I have to base a future on my numerous observations of the past days, adding them up into their cumulative sum which then forms a nice summary to project off and then projecting them into the next horizon, and thereby conclude in knowing fashion that this will happen when the only guarantee I’ll ever have is that there is no guarantee. Today is not the sum of yesterday. In fact those numerous observations might not do it, so you have to start today with something else.

But maybe that first impression, that first goal, is correct at least in part. I first wanted a blond, my preferences in women have since evolved and now I also like brunettes But that doesn’t mean if I do meet a blond now, that my original goal is now invalid or wrong for me now, that I cannot go back to the original superficial blueprint.

When I grew up in America , the standard lunch was a hamburger French fries and a coke. Things have evolved since then, the menus have expanded, and McDonalds and the like have chicken, fish, and so on. But that doesn’t mean I can’t go back and have my original order that was the staple of its day, like baseball, cracker jacks and apple pie. Look at some of the nostalgia, what people hold to, the people that restore cars, the searching again for the right stuff, all pointing to a restored feeling or experience I still want to revisit in some way. I want a classic coke as it was my first love. Or that favorite show that I still want to see from years back that has become associated with a personal era. Where is the DVD? We might associate seeing a movie with a certain time of our lives when we were actually happy for a moment.

As I sift through the newly emerging evidence, do I give up the old automatically? The original blueprint might have been good as it still holds some fading allure. Look at some people that would still go back to the old fashioned automate for lunch, or I might still want a root beer float after all these years, and even if Gilligan never got off that island, I still go back to that see that show again.

There is also the freedom not to do everything, be everything, and refer to every thought and idea at once. You can isolate on ideas and approaches that you want to pursue now, letting go of approaches that might have been mightily engrained in your thinking but you are free to drop for now in order to isolate on another approach. There is freedom of cadence and personal pacing. The freedom to isolate on and focus on even a specific instance of thought and carry it through to new possiblities.

Then we are also dealing with in simple, small, close by freedoms that might make a difference. The freedoms involved are so close or small that we don’t even realize it’s an issue of freedom. I might have to wear a suit and tie again at work after being in a casual dress environment for so long. These freedoms are so small we take them for granted, but they would be highlighted if they were taken away. Suppose they discontinued my favorite candy, my favorite drink, or my favorite show on TV. All of the sudden, what I assumed would always be available isn’t there anymore. There are no blonds left on the planet, I have to settle for a brunette. I could now only take a hot shower once a week because of the water shortage. Where did my hot shower water go? It ditched me. I can’t get the type haircut I want anymore, what I liked went out of style.

A personal example was when I played my first year of little league baseball, at every at bat I was badgered by the assistant coach who I guess meant well to keep my elbow up and swing level. I couldn’t swing then freely for the fences. I had no home runs and a low batting average for the season. The following year, with a different coach who left me alone to swing away for the fences, I could drop my hands and elbow without constant instructions to do otherwise and go back to my more natural swing and I did have some nicely hit home runs and a much higher average to boot.

But maybe a compromise can be reached. In order to swing more freely, I’ll agree to some adjustment in the rules of the game, maybe a pop fly to the infield is now an automatic out. I want this freedom, but I’ll allow for another rule that relates to this freedom to come in as a compromise between the elements being discussed.

We can make a bargain with the day, forgetting my previous lapses in relation to what I wanted then and now. But does the deal we make with the day, the passage of time, the changing circumstances of our life, include those cherished freedoms. Or did I deal them out this time, muffling those voices that call me forth to somewhere new, bargaining them away, bartering away some freedoms for a safer but less free vision of who I was then and who I could be now. Have you sold your rights, folding your hand against your hallowed beliefs, vanquishing and banishing the freedoms from your own personal kingdom and fiefdom, letting freedom pass by like the last fading rays of the falling sun, letting freedom pass you by yet one more time, leaving you alone as the forgotten companion and friend.

Then, you may have bartered away freedom when there was no give and take. You give up rights, but get nothing in return. Going back to the baseball example, you not only have you freedom taking away to swing freely, maybe you don’t even get to play the field now, you are only the DH. The bartering away from freedom netted you nothing.

And then there is that primal call to freedom, that call of the wild. You see this take form with people that take more extreme risks like skydiving or something like that. You might want to tap that ability to take on risk but also channel it in a way that will get you to another day. See another sunrise.

But there can be a subtle loss of freedom within particular goals, however small. I want to read the whole NY Times, so I end up being not free to read say just the one article. I find myself lacking unless I read at least 10 articles. Why this seeming shortfall is this seen as a free fall on my goals when reading just the one article can be quite valuable as well. I need to give myself freedom to find value and if it is only in one or two articles I can make it too so be it. I find myself riddled with guilt that I cannot seem to meet my prior goals. Instead of trying to solve the riddle, I let guilt rain upon it. My newspaper is all wet with the guilt I rained upon it, and I can’t read anything now. Are you going to get the crossword puzzle done on the Sunday Times by running on a guilt trip? Solve the puzzle. I may still want to cover more territory but I can cover less or more territory based on what I want to do in freedom. And if I cover less territory, I don’t have to take a guilty trip to guilty land, and cover my wagon train with guilt because I didn’t make it all the way west. I can’t read any fiction because it will not translate into a set of knowledge that will net me dollars, so I have to wait until my bank account is swelling with money before I can afford to spend time on this pursuit. So in effect, I am in a way not free to read fiction now, I’m effectively locked out on reading fiction for now, and although I could enjoy this and I have the capacity for this now, my bank account doesn’t let me. My goal of a lot of money in the bank has been a mountainous chore shading away other chances, and has usurped and obscured my present interest in maybe relaxing and reading some fiction. Reading fiction has become objectionable as I let the search for the gold further obtuse my other interests. I never get to that other place. I lose my other views from my high mountain, I got to the summit of Everest but I was above the atmosphere and I can’t see those other earthly opportunities or even pour myself another cup of soup.

Everything is a crapshoot, but it is less of a crapshoot if you can go freely into areas of your strengths that we might have seen had we not been stopped by the voices that say no. We not only voluntarily inhibited our weaknesses, but even our strengths. Why haven’t given myself a license to operate within my strengths? I have these good qualities, I sweep them under the deck, and so I end up with an immaculate deck, that looks great from the distance with such an impeccable view from afar. The perfect noonday sun sparkles on this shining deck. But, where I am on the deck? Where are you on the deck? Where are we on the deck? In fact, I can’t find any of us there. Had we really obtained the ideal view? The landscape was so beautiful, but never full, the occupant sign continually says vacant.

There were beautiful scenes and posh landscapes waiting for us. But I never got there. I heard you never got there. In fact, none of us made an appearance there.

What are my strengths really? What are my weaknesses? It is not so easy to sift through and separate the two. Passion could spur us on to new heights or catch us in our greatest weaknesses. Where does passion lie then, in our strengths or our weaknesses? Or does freedom have its say here?

By the common lumping together process, we classify our weaknesses as strengths or vice versa. The truth is that our greatest strengths can be found within some of our seeming weaknesses. Those are the nuggets of gold that we must find as we sift through.

My strengths could have been posted on the most wanted trail. Where were my strengths post and prior, now and then? You could picture those safe havens in your mind. That safe haven could be revisiting both in your mind and in a reality that is presenting itself in the form of hints. Where are they rolling out the red carpet for you? If this situation isn’t royal and regal it isn’t the safe harbor. If that level of engagement isn’t there, they might cast you out sooner if not later. Even your thoughts can leave the safe harbor, instead of rolling out the red carpet for ourselves, we dynamite against ourselves in our own thinking. If your own thoughts cast you out, then you haven’t even found a safe harbor in your own contemplations. The thought, I can’t hit the jumper, or the rising fastball, doesn’t get us in the game. The safe haven should also be seen as such by you. It certainly is not a place that is a lightning rod for the negative. And this place could be your place of thinking. What is the location of your thinking? Get back to those thoughts that will harbor your best assets in freedom.

An example of all this could be someone who wants to do something, yet ultimately does not see it being a safe harbor. More than likely, they will procrastinate until they can see what about this could form into a safe harbor.

See it you can catch things on the bounce. You still have a chance on the bounce back, maybe on the very next bounce. There are opportunities off the bounce. Every chance that you take is a chance that is taken.

Situations might form into a web or network. You might have a network of friends and relationships that overlap or network of business contacts. Or a web of interests and choices that relate in some way. But these interests as they become complex have the potential to become tangled. If you have ever gone fishing on a party boat, there is potential to really tangle the lines, and it can be very difficult to untangle the fishing lines. In the same way, we need to operate freely and try to avoid and then get out of ways we can get tangled up in these webs. A simple example could be a group of girls who are friends in high school. Gossip can spread among these mutual friends and one friend could get in trouble with most of the group. So gossip could cause entanglements in these webs of friendships, just like having several fishermen get their lines tangled up with each other on the fishing boat. This example shows how the free choice to gossip can have a resonance within a given network or web of relationships beyond its initial scope. Of course a web or network can be a rich and fruitful web. A bunch of mutual friends who keep in touch over the years with each other is an example of a rich web. Or you take a number of courses where there is helpful overlap as to the learning and this is a rich network of knowledge which has formed.

Change can be in two directions, not just one, or even make it three. So this is another thing to consider, I may be changing in two areas rather than just the one I seem to think about most. I need then to see therefore in two directions, and also look in two directions as I’m changing in two directions.

I can get tangled up again, I can trip over myself because I think I’m changing in only one direction, when it is two or more directions that my current movements are changing in. I might think even that this is a bit odd or strange, and therefore, count me out. But there are so many things you have done, in ways that were both acceptable to you and others, that there might be a chance that you could have a similar feel for this, this thing that seems so alien to your hopes right now.

But really I’m just trying to fish. How can I do this with freedom when my lines are so tangled?

You might be just as interested elsewhere. A little bit more freedom might do the trick or be the trick of the trade. This freedom could include a shakeup of the thoughts we hold so dearly about ourselves. I can put those closely held thoughts, at a bit of a distance, or at a little less of a premium. The problems indeed are coming through so close to the situation that we lose sight of the objective mirror as we pass by. Our present opinion of ourselves in based partly on the more subjective reality held by me only. We might be victims of our own gloomy prognosis that leaves us looking in the dust of formerly good opportunities. Can we sometimes settle in on a less gloomy view of our potentialities and ourselves? Ease up a bit on the brakes you have put on your personal freedom train and try to keep your train ride moving in some smooth, positive, and flowing forward fashion. At least give yourself a chance to peruse some of the evidence that you might be wrong as you sift further through the sands of possibility, that you could let the movie have a different ending or somehow find and believe for a better ending, or a different story line that had more appeal to the wider audience of me and them, that you might still be able to move in another chosen direction, rather than continually and conditionally resubscribing to the disrupting thoughts that blanket across your landscape, a twirling and twisting subscript that soon becomes predominate in your own personal movie, clouding your way. Can you cancel your subscription to disaster now? I have these thoughts that have now become corrosive and swollen with negativity. It is far easier to paint all with the same negative brush, swelling the storm, then to search out the good parts that still remain in the mix containing some good yet to be mined. Instead, leave the picture as is with some of those good scenes in the mix. Try to mine the positives. There are ways you can go on the still sunlit course, either automatically or not automatically. Or try to hang in there until the sunrise comes for you

Ever see a movie, particularly when the hero or main character is trying to escape. You root for that character to escape, and try to find with him or her the way out. Why not root for yourself, to find your way out?

Some decisions I make automatically, if the sea is too way strong, it is letting you know by the swells to 40 feet, and I just know I can’t handle it, I might automatically get me and my surfboard out of the water and get back to the babes on the shore of Baywatch . It’s an automatic decision. There is no second guess or even a first guess. If I get an A, I am almost automatically happy with the best results. That is the letter I want to see and it starts with A. But other projected courses are not so automatic and require considerations based on the ability move freely. Even if we get to where we seem to want to be, there is some crossing over that is involved that isn’t automatic. My personal belief system about myself can be shrouded with inconsistencies and inaccuracies that hold me back and keep me from what should be automatically a fairly good choice to make. Since I just can’t get my better thought processes to the forefront right now, doesn’t mean I live by what I can’t get to yet. If I had real confidence, I would automatically take this chance and walk through the good opportunity. The traveling beliefs about myself that I put on active file, on automatic pilot, that check me away at the door of new territory that might contain the golden opportunities that will bring me home to happiness. It’s as if I am skating with the hockey puck, nobody is there to check me, and I think what is going on, so I check myself against the boards. In my previously conceived notions of myself I haven’t considered other spectrums of my possible talents. I shroud my thinking. My one-dimensional ponderings haven’t considered that I may be multi-dimensional in my talents. I’ve blasted away at the whole rock. I have not gotten to the optimistic side of the fence yet. I haven’t told myself the whole story by just sticking with the negative. I’ve beclouded my own skyline. We haven’t exactly given scintillating reviews of ourselves to ourselves, further limiting fuller considerations of what might have yet been possible for me, jettisoning my own potentialities to a lesser form. I’ve giving myself a head start away from the better chances. Usually when someone says, you have a head start, it refers to advantages. But not the way we work things when negativity gets going first in our thinking.

Not only do I not want to be famous I have in fact defamed myself. We have continually declared ourselves ineligible before anyone else has or before the game has even begun. Are you socially engaged to a level of satisfaction, intellectually engaged to a level of satisfaction, have you got the lantern on those thoughts that puts you more in the light?. Can you center your thoughts on something else other than the worst-case scenario and just deal with it if it does when it happens? For example as we take in the bad news, do we need to center our thoughts on it? Centering on good things now may even leave to a fullness of those good things now. A flower blooms centering in the sunlight. Free up your thinking to a more rounded view, towards yourself and you’re your circumstances, giving some credence to the brighter side of things, not that you have to stay captive to the optimistic, but just visit there and see what is going on in that neck of the woods, also trying to give some weight to all the viable ideas you could choose from, not just the negative, which you can probably put in the corner anyway for all the good it has done you in these ramparts.

Going back to the example where I automatically get out of the surf if the waves are 40 feet high. But how about if I am facing waves that are 20 feet high? Even those waves are a bit high for my surfing ability but I am not sure. The decision isn’t automatic. Should I surf now or not? Right here is my rendezvous with freedom. This dance isn’t going to be with Ms. Automatic but with Ms. Freedom. Since the decision isn’t automatic, I will make a free choice. As I move away from the automatic I am moving into areas of freedom that contrast with my more automatic decisions. I am outside the friendly zone of automatic and I have to get used to dealing with the zone of maybe or maybe not. It isn’t much of a decision to grapple with to leave the 40-foot surf alone. But the surf I’m facing now offers more pros than cons but still some cons. I could get some relatively but not totally safe thrills on these waves, but my facility and experience in still more with 10 to 15 foot waves and this does represent an uncertain leap for me.

When someone says to you, “ Don’t automatically assume.” Consider that they might be right. How much and how often, even in the areas where we have a lot going for us, do we automatically assume maximum trust in our prior beliefs, approaches, expectations, and interests in somewhat erroneous fashion. How much should we be so automatic about without looking into freedoms play in the situation. I go out in the summer I automatically assume it will be at least 60 degrees. But what of the anomaly that has happened, that one day in the century when it’s 30 degrees in the summer. I just assumed that would never happen.

We let these negative thoughts rent space in our head. But at what cost do they rent? Can we free up that space for some other tenants?

Don’t totally rely on good bloodlines and circumstances. What good is the great horse with all the good bloodlines, and it never gets out of the barn for the race?

Are you still married to the darkness of the day or can you finally break free and start to divorce yourself from those negative forces? Can you finally get on equal footing with freedom or at least get a foot in the proximal door of freedom’s domain, finally beginning to that first big step into its province. We have tapped danced around freedom for so long we don’t know where and who we are anymore, as we list for a place on the hierarchy of possibilities, we never had a meeting with freedoms demands and invitations, even as freedom knocked on our door not only once but again and again, nether while we dimmed the light on our remained sight of what could yet be.

You don’t have to take on the full force of freedom you can take it in smaller doses. We don’t have to always have a grand meeting with freedom we can also meet freedom in her minutia, in her more minute form. Size up freedom to the situation. Not everything is at the level of détente.. You don’t have to be the leader of the free world to talk to anyone in this world, to talk to this girl, to jump in this nicely heated ocean for another soothing swim. Free yourself from the stifling and stilted worries that have got you swaggering like a ship in yet another storm of make believe.

We can ride the wave of freedom but then we can also get off that wave. We have freedom to ride a wave and stay on its crest or get off it if we choose. Opportunity can be seen from that crest, that panoramic view, from that higher wave, where I have views of new and multiple landscapes, which might yet have widespread applications. Jason Gardner tried to catch that big wave to the NBA but he didn’t have a good camp for the NBA scouts and went back to college for another season. He didn’t surf that big wave to the NBA this time but there will be another chance, another wave for Jason. Another Golden Fleece may yet be found. He did get another view from that wave and then went back. By the way he was just MVP of a major preseason college tournament for his college team the Arizona Wildcats.

Take some of your freedom pills in the morning with our vitamins. Freely have a freedom sandwich for lunch for a change instead of the usual tuna or turkey. And then take a relaxed walk along the highway of freedom afterwards, enjoy the sights, the price is right. Then take a d

The procedure of the removal of the gall bladder is Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy. The gall bladder removal is one of the most commonly surgical procedure in the United States. In most people the removal of gall bladder has no effects on digestion. Gall bladder is a small organ situated beneath the liver, collecting bile. After each meal the bile is released into the small intestine through narrow tubular channels(bile ducts).

Gall bladder diseases are caused by the gallstones that form from bile salts and cholesterol in the gallbladder or in the bile ducts. There is hard to say why some people produce gallstones and others don’t, gallstones block the bile ducts producing jaundice, sharp abdominal pain, vomiting, indigestion and fever. Gallstones are diagnosed with ultrasounds, but a treatment must be adopted because they do not go away on their own, the most safer and adequated procedure is the surgical remove of the gall bladder.

The advantages of the laparoscopically procedure are numerous.

There are only four small cuts in the abdomen, that’s why there are no pains after the operation and the recovery of the patients is fast and they may return to their daily activities.

Laparoscopic procedure may not be suited if patients have an altered condition, and for those that have suffered previous abdominal surgery.

There are required some preparations before the operation such as: blood work, medical evaluation, chest X-rays and an EKG, after your surgeon explains you the risks and benefits of this kind of operation you have to write down your consent.

For 1-2 days before the operation you are advised to drink only clear liquids, to empty your intestines. You are recommended to take your medicines and take a shower in the morning before the operation. Anti-inflammatories and aspirins, vitamin E are stopped within a week before the surgery. Diet medications should not be used for two weeks before the operation, you should also quit smocking.

The procedure of the laparoscopic gall bladder removal is performed under general anesthesia, a cannula is introduced in the abdomen (close to the belly-button), the laparoscope is inserted through the cannula and the surgeon has a magnified image of the internal organs on a TV screen. With other cannulas the surgeon can remove the gall bladder through one of the openings. A cholangiogram, to identify stones, which may be located in the bile channels is indicated. These small incisions are closed with surgical tape or with some stitches.

The laparoscopic method is not indicated if the patient suffers of obesity, bleeding problems and inability to visualize organs. So for the patient’s safety the classical open procedure is indicated . If fever, yellow skin and eyes, distention, worsening abdominal pain occurs it means that things have complicated and you have to address your surgeon. The studies have shown that bleeding, pneumonia, heart problems, infection, injury to the adjacent structures are the most frequent complications.

Cosmetic eye surgery is done on the upper and lower eyelids with the help of lasers. Certain age-related changes take place to the tissues around the eye. Elasticity of skin is decreased, causing changes in the tone of skin. Eyebrows start to droop and waste skin accumulates on the upper and lower eyelids. Fat may get collected in the form of small bags under the eyes. Tendons around the eye lose laxity. This loosens the support structure of the eyelids and may lead to faulty positioning of eyelids. These age-related changes may sometimes be found in young people with certain conditions such as disthyroid eye disease and facial nerve palsy.

Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure done on the eyelids to enhance facial features and to reverse age-related changes to the eye. Ptosis is a surgical procedure done to correct droopy eyelids. Cases where the lower eyelid is turned inside or outside can also be repaired by surgery with the help of a laser beam.

In blepharoplasty, incisions are made using a laser beam. Waste skin and muscles in the eyelid are trimmed. Fatty deposits are removed from under the eye. Wrinkles from the lower eyelid are erased. Incisions are closed with the help of small sutures that are removed after four or five days. This is mostly done as an outpatient procedure, and patients can go home immediately after surgery.

Laser beams help to seal blood vessels quickly, giving the surgeon a better view of the organ. This makes it possible to perform surgeries with precision. Postoperative swelling after laser surgery is less compared to the swelling that occurs with conventional eye surgery. Swelling subsides in 24 to 48 hours with ice compresses. There is less of scarring, bruising, and discoloration with laser-assisted eyelid surgery.

Blepharoplasty will not remove crow?s feet at the corner of the eye. Dark shadows under the eyes cannot be eliminated with laser surgery.

An eyelid lift (eye surgery) otherwise known as blepharoplasty, focuses on the eyes, which occupy a very prominent part of our facial features. It is the surrounding skin, rather than the eyes themselves, that conveys emotion. The tissue, muscle, fat, hair and lashes all contribute to the wide array of expressions. Age, sun exposure and hereditary factors all contribute to wrinkles, deep lines and puffiness around the eyes.

The aging process can cause unwanted changes in expression, causing us to look permanently fatigued and older than we really are. These changes in appearance can cause emotional distress and sometimes even visual impairment. An eyelid lift, or eye surgery, is designed to restore a more youthful appearance to your eyes. It may involve the upper lids, the lower lids, or both.

New and Traditional Techniques

Traditional Blepharoplasty: An incision is made in the crease of the upper lid toward the temples. Once healed, it is not noticeable when the eye is open. On the lower lid, the incision is made along the lash line toward the temples, and is hidden by lashes when healed.

The Transconjunctival Approach: This is a newer technique for eyelid blepharoplasty, involving an incision inside the lower lid. Fat can be removed through this incision, but excess skin cannot be eliminated.

Laser resurfacing of the eyelids is a non-surgical alternative that may delay the need for a surgical blepharoplasty. It results in significant tightening of the skin around the eyes, but will not effect the fat around the eyes and may even accentuate it.

Please ask your doctor if you have any questions about <a href="http://www.plasticsurgery-beverlyhills.com/"rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/article_exit_link');" >eyelid surgery or which procedure is right for you.

The Surgery

Eye surgery begins with local anesthesia is given around the eyes. An intravenous line is started so that sedation may also be given. During the procedure you will be awake but comfortable and relaxed. General anesthesia is rarely used.

This procedure is performed on an outpatient basis. It is important to arrange for care after the surgery. Someone must drive you home and be available to care for you for the first 24 hours.

Complications are unlikely when performed by a surgeon with experience in <a href="http://www.plasticsurgery-beverlyhills.com/facial_aesthetic/blepharoplasty.html"rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/article_exit_link');" >blepharoplasty. These include: bleeding and swelling, delayed wound healing, infection, drooping of eye upper or lower eyelid, asymmetry, double vision and dry eyes. Schedule a consultation today to learn more about getting a eyelid surgery in Los Angeles.

Recovery: What to Expect

The area surrounding the eyes will remain swollen in the days following the surgery. It should begin to subside after the first day. Some vision blurring is normal.

The stitches will be removed in 4-5 days. Swelling and bruising will persist for about 10 days, but you can begin wearing makeup to help conceal these concerns. You may expect to resume normal activity within a week to 10 days, and start enjoying your new look within approximately 10-14 days. It may take about 6 months for the scars to lose their redness.

Wrinkling will recur later in life, however it is unlikely that the “bags” will recur because the fat has been removed. Deeper wrinkles around the outer eye extended onto the temple are not greatly affected by the eyelid lift. These areas may be treated with laser resurfacing.

DNA Core Belief Reprogramming
Moving from Thinking to Being: Manifesting Abundance In Your Life

Imagine owning and being 100 % in your own power, being self reliant, self responsible and self empowered. Imagine being able to manifest anything you ever wanted and know that it is possible, that you deserve it, you are worthy of it and that it is safe for you to have it. Imagine a life full of personal abundance. One of financial, emotional, physical and spiritual wealth. Now imagine that all of this is possible through the simple act of transforming the core of our beliefs. This is insight of DNA Theta Core Belief Reprogramming and Theta Healing.

DNA Theta Core Belief Reprogramming and Theta Healing is a healing arts modality developed by Vianna Stibal that allows the practitioner to facilitate instant changes in a client’s DNA on a cellular level by transforming the core of their beliefs. These beliefs are held on four levels: Core Beliefs, Genetic Beliefs, History Beliefs and Soul Beliefs, and they effect the body physically, mentally, emotionally, psychologically, physiologically, and spiritually. Understanding how these multi-level belief systems affect the quality of our lives is at the core of what DNA Theta Core Belief Reprogramming and Theta Healing is all about.

Marina Rose, of Santa Monica and Topanga Canyon, California based Alchemy Wellness, is a Medical Intuitive and Practitioner of Theta Healing and DNA Theta Core Belief Reprogramming. She is teaching a series of DNA Manifesting and Abundance Seminars in international cities throughout the world, designed to present these advanced techniques to advanced Theta Practitioners and Theta Teachers.

We Are What We Believe

Each of us creates everything in our lives. We draw to us people and experiences based on our belief systems. These beliefs function like computer programs, creating for us wealth or poverty, sickness or health, success or failure, loneliness or interconnectedness. Everything is our creation.

The beliefs we hold are almost entirely subconscious. Some beliefs are formed based on our experiences: We touch fire–it burns us. We then form the belief that fire burns. And this belief serves us.

However not all beliefs serve us.

Perhaps we grow up in a home with two very financially successful parents, both of whom are unhappy. Based on this experience, by the age of four we decide that financial success makes people unhappy. Even a seemingly complex conclusion such as this can be subconsciously formed at a very early age. It is easy to see how

a belief such as this would not serve us later in life, and could become the source of much conflict and ambivalence towards success and happiness. By the time we reach thirty or forty, this could ultimately lead to a failure to achieve the success we would have otherwise created in our lives. This is an example of a limiting belief, and a perfect example of how DNA Theta Core Belief Reprogramming and Theta Healing can help.

DNA Theta Core Belief Reprogramming and Theta healing penetrates the root of limiting beliefs that do not serve us. For instance, in order for a person who believes that success equals unhappiness to be able to manifest and have abundance in their lives, we would need to first change their beliefs about financial success and unhappiness. We would need to reprogram this belief to reinforce that it is safe and good for a person to have financial success in their life and at the same time still be happy. We would also want to ensure that this person will attract the right person for them as their life partner, someone who will support their new belief and vision of having both financial success and happiness. It would require that they identify the necessary qualities in a partner that support this belief and that they develop strong boundaries and accountability in their life in order to maintain the integrity of their new belief and vision of their future.

“It’s important, when going after a goal, to never loose sight of the integrity of the journey.”

Andy Garcia, Actor/Director

Most of us walk around and are not even consciously aware of own beliefs. We may be walking around and carrying beliefs that do not even belong to us. These beliefs have been passed down through our parents and ancestors. These beliefs are then held on a genetic level and are passed down to us in our DNA. We are born with these beliefs, and we haven’t had a choice of getting rid of them until now with DNA/Theta Core Belief Reprogramming and Theta Healing.

Also we acquire beliefs from the collective consciousness, the groups and societies we live in, and from our history, our heritage. The majority of these are subconscious. But they run like computer programs, dictating our experiences and creating our lives. With DNA Theta Core Belief Reprogramming and Theta Healing you can choose your beliefs and consciously create your life the way you want it to be. You can heal physical ailments, and reprogram yourself for abundance, success, love, happiness and anything else you can imagine. So…what will you create?

Quantum Physics And Our Reality

DNA Theta Core Belief Reprogramming and Theta Healing is an amazing new set of techniques that allows you to quickly identify deeply held blocks and to reprogram the unconscious mind. It allows you to re-create your reality and hence choose the world you live in. This is achieved through changing – literally re-writing – your feelings and beliefs. This new healing paradigm is similar to downloading a new program on your computer. You can have anything you want. From being healthy, wealthy, happy, in a committed loving relationship, being 100% in your own power.

Have you ever wondered how you can want money, pray for money, follow the detailed instructions of various success gurus, read countless books on spiritual growth and self mastery and still not have enough money? Great books like Conversations with God teach us that it is our deepest, innermost beliefs that shape our world. The cutting edge spiritual view that our unconscious beliefs create our reality is now validated by quantum physics – a concept cleverly portrayed in many films such as What the Bleep Do We Know and The Secret.

It is beliefs, rather than simply luck, that sets apart people with amazing success, health and happiness. You can break down any successful person in any field of business, from celebrities, to sports stars, to huge real estate tycoons. The one common denominator is their belief system. They feel they deserve and are worthy to have what they have accomplished. They feel it is safe for them to have what they have accomplished. They also have the DNA blueprint to be able to attract it, hold it and keep it. They always have great passion for what they do, and therefore they are great at what they do.

“1980 I got twenty-three letters of rejection from all the Record Labels, Major and Minor Labels. No one could see what my manager and I could see in my music. The labels couldn’t foresee my songs as hits. One record label said ” Joan Jett is interesting, maybe she should loose the guitar.” Another said “Her songs are interesting, they’re not going to be hits.” I love Rock n Roll. Crimson & Clover, Bad Reputation, Do You Want To Touch Me, You Don’t Own Me”. All four of these songs ended up being hits. One of the songs was number on the music charts for 4 weeks.”

Joan Jett, Female Rock n Roll Star

There are countless stories of now successful Artists who at one time were the only ones who believed in their talent. Joan Jett is once such example. When by all accounts only she and her manager foresaw success, something in her core kept her believing in herself. The first time she played in Malibu California there were 59 people to see her perform. The next time she played there, the roads needed to be closed five miles both ways.

How are your beliefs in yourself manifesting or not manifesting what you want in your life?

What passions do you have in your life that you are letting get away from you?

In the award winning book, The Self Aware Universe, by Amit Goswami, the author deftly illustrates how for many years scientists and philosophers have believed that matter was the fundamental building block of the universe, and that consciousness emerged from the right combinations of physical materials. Physicists have now determined that this is incorrect – that it is in fact consciousness that creates matter, and not the other way around. This book provides an excellent description of the emerging theories that physicists are now using to describe the fundamental nature of reality – which also provides a solid scientific foundation for how and why DNA/Theta Core Belief Reprogramming and Theta Healing works.

“The resolve to accomplish your goal is what counts. If you earnestly put your mind to something, your brain, your body, your environment, everything, will start working toward achieving that end.”

Diasuku Ikeda
President of the Lay Organization of SGI of Nichirin Diashonin Buddhism

DNA Manifesting and Abundance Seminars are about working through your issues so you can resolve the beliefs that are holding you back in having your manifestation becoming a reality in your life and having abundance in your life. It is also assists you to clear out negative beliefs that manifest negative circumstances in your live. It supports what is known as the law of Attraction.

Consider that we have a man who believes that all human beings are rude, overbearing, demanding and angry. This man will find himself continually surrounded by rude, overbearing, demanding and angry people who want to argue, fight, control, or demand things from him in an overbearing manner. This only happens to him because they are his beliefs, his beliefs are like magnets and that is what he is attracting into his life.

If a Theta Practitioner were to work with someone who held this belief and to assist in changing this belief for him, say into one like, “people do the best they can,” then this person would start to have more compassion for others, and would likewise meet more compassionate, loving people. The Theta Practitioner would also find out why he feels that it serves him to only attract those types of negative people. Why does he hold these beliefs? The Theta Practitioner would dig deep to find out how those beliefs manifested originally. If the Theta Practitioner determined that this person felt it served him to have people in his life that were rude, overbearing, demanding, angry and demanded things from him in an overbearing manner because he was otherwise lazy and unmotivated in his life, often shunning his responsibilities, then the Theta Practitioner might work on finding out what is his passion in life, what motivates him, and to assist him in pursuing these passions so that he will avoid also feeling defeated and negative. The Theta Practitioner may have to work on very basic emotions of self worth, self esteem, deserving issues, then boundaries and accountability issues.

There’s much more to this of course, and your practitioner can show you how to “clean up” unresourceful beliefs like the ones above, so that you can begin to live a truly fulfilling life and manifest anything that you would want in your life. Manifesting and having Abundance is such a personal thing, and every person is unique in this process. This is why for some people if they read and follow directions in a book it works for them, and for others they can do just about anything and nothing works. That is until now, with DNA Theta Core Belief Reprogramming and Theta Healing. DNA Theta Core Belief Reprogramming and Theta Healing empowers you to create a life that you would love to have with ease and grace, no matter what your beliefs are. Everything you currently believe is able to be changed, and reprogrammed for whatever you want to achieve. DNA/Theta Core Belief Reprogramming is about training the Brain for success in manifesting and having abundance in your life, under all circumstances, whether it is regarding health, love or money.

Believing In Abundance

You may think that all people would like to have abundance in their lives. That simply isn’t true in most cases. It depends on their programming and belief systems. Have you ever met children of rich parents who hate their parents? Some of these people usually don’t work. Why, because it serves them to spend all of their parents money so they can get attention, even though it is a negative attention. This might be cute when they are young. However as they get older these lack of abundance doesn’t work for them anymore especially when there is no more money left. This is lack of abundance due to lack of love and positive empowering attention.

Thinking about a positive idea or belief is a great start. Films like “The Secret” and “What the Bleep do we Know,” help us to understand how our language and thoughts affect our reality. However, many times we will discover plateaus in using positive thinking and visualization. Why? Because underneath all that optimism lies a history of doubt and fear and eventually these “demons” resurface. How do we know? Because if we didn’t have all that inside us, we wouldn’t need to stand in the mirror in the morning saying ten times, “I love you. You’re a beautiful worthy person.” We wouldn’t have to remind ourselves to be loving and kind. Forgiveness would become obsolete when we realize there is nothing to be forgiven. We would simply know. And we would feel it in our hearts, and our lives would be a lovely testimony of our self-love and acceptance. And the people around us would reflect that love. This is the truth. You would no longer doubt yourself and your choices. You would simply be, as you are, in complete love and truth. Seem far off? Not so far.

The strange thing about films like “ “The Secret” and “What the Bleep do we Know,” and lot of self help books on getting rich, they don’t tell the person about certain emotions that stand in their way of manifesting and having abundance in their life. They don’t really discuss the emotions and thoughts that block them for being all that they can be, and manifesting and having all the abundance that they would like to have.

Theta Healing – DNA Theta Core Belief Reprogramming has revolutionized the way we work with the mind. Change doesn’t have to be hard, but this belief must be learned, and all beliefs must be held and supported by the subconscious mind. If you believe changing and healing is hard, then it will be. If a person believes that the more they struggle, the stronger they become, then they will find a lot of struggle and strife. If they believe that they need to be challenged to grow, then that is true also. With DNA/Theta Core Belief Reprogramming, growth becomes a loving acceptance of who the person is, and growth then becomes just a way to experience the world. There is no more good or bad. There is no more right or wrong. There is just the person’s limitless possibilities to manifest and create all the abundance in their life. However, before a person is able to manifest to their highest potential, they must isolate and clear all of their blocks. That’s why Marina Rose is teaching this amazing DNA Theta Manifesting and Abundance Seminar to the advanced Theta Healing Students, Theta Practitioners and Theta Healing Teachers from all over the world.

To be able to manifest and have abundance you must first have the dream and an intention of what you want to manifest. You must know what you want.

Do you know what you truly want to manifest in your life?

The Mind Body Bio Computer – Train the Brain

The brain is a biological computer of the body. It’s the organ that controls all the bodily functions, muscles, organs, glands, speech, systems, imagination thoughts etc. Scientists are increasing finding out that it controls much more than we are conscious of, that’s for sure. This bio-computer is made up countless cells and nerves that register every significant event in our lives.

DNA Theta Core Belief Reprogramming and Theta Healing takes advantage of the powerful biological computer that is at the core of our lives. It understands that the brain can be trained for nearly anything, and that the key to achieving this is to change our beliefs. Think of the mind as “listening” to our thoughts, this “listening” is heard not only in a linguistic manner, but it is also “listening” to the emotion attached to those thoughts. Self limiting thinking of the brain is always emotional in structure, and linguistic in communication. Our stream of consciousness is full of limiting emotions. These limiting notions literally become our maps for life. The brain, our biological computer, then reinforces our thought process. We then live, act, think, and speak in accordance with our “self talk” of the brain, and there are times when our “self talk” provides the ultimate disservice, we lie to ourselves.

When we lie to ourselves, it’s known clinically as denial. Our mind uses some interesting and sophisticated mechanisms to deny. Sometimes we project our feelings on others, sometimes we believe the actions of others to have terrible motives that are really our own worst fears, thoughts, etc. The important point is this, is that every thought we have in our stream of consciousness has an accompanying emotion, and in order for us to enjoy the emotions that we have too little of, we must first relinquish the emotions that are counter productive to those emotions we desire. It is emotion that plays the dangerous tricks on the mind, and therefore not words or “self talk” of the brain that underlies the foundation of self limiting belief.

The Body Is A “Somatic Library”

The body-mind principle of Somatic Processing recognizes that the Body is a “Somatic Library” of emotions and beliefs, the energy and information of psycho-emotional experiences that have been imprinted instantaneously into the cells of specific body areas, organs and tissues. In effect, the body has an actual psycho-emotional anatomy. An extraordinary tapestry of structures, functions, emotions, memories, attitudes and beliefs – all intertwined, all affecting each other and manifesting in the final consequence, both on the physical plane of the person’s life, as well as the people, places and things they attract to them.

Changing our belief systems about the mind-body connection and its influence on health is an important step in fostering the ability for people to heal themselves, which is the only true and permanent healing. We now know there is a link between disease and retained emotion. All occurrences that affect our life are registered in our cellular matrix. For example, if you have a headache, depression, anger, back pain, chronic disease, pain or inflammation, your mind is telling your body and it is urging you to find and fix the cause or least get out of pain.

When you reprogram the brain to heal, it will heal. This is demonstrated by countless success stories from those who have used Theta Healing to overcome even the worst life threatening illnesses. Sometimes you have to work the client’s belief system so that you can train the brain to heal, and then you can change the frequency of the cells so that healing may happen very quickly. You may have to change the beliefs in the person to accept and receive a healing this way.

We all have had experiences in our lives that create anger, fear, unworthiness, non-deserving, low self-esteem, resentments, regrets and a feeling of being disconnected. Unless we address these unconstructive beliefs, we will carry these energies in our brain, body, heart and soul, ultimately creating illness and unhappiness. What most people don’t know is that to manifest all the negative things in their lives takes so much more energy than being in perfect rhythm with the universe and allowing great things to happen. It takes years and years of abusing yourself mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually to manifest a disease. It just doesn’t happen over night. There are usually warning signs and red flags that a person ignores to get themselves sick.

Sometimes there are events that are traumatic (such as pain, illness, injury, grief, surgery, shock, trauma etc) – they may exert a lasting effect upon the rest of our life. That’s why we often hear people say: “Ever since such-and-such happened, I never have had a day of peace, comfort, good health or happiness”. People say this everyday and they don’t realize the true of the depth of that imprint on their brain and body. Additionally, every disease has a set of emotions and thought processes that pertain to that certain disease. The cells for every disease vibrate at a different frequency in the body. DNA Theta Core Belief Reprogramming makes changes on a cellular level and on a DNA level, that helps the body to heal.

What beliefs and blocks are you walking around with that are imprinted on your brain?

When Our Beliefs Become Harmful

Many times an ailment can be connected to core beliefs and genetic patterns in the cells. Theta healing can clear and transform these. Theta healing provides powerful tools for emotional healing as well. It provides a simple way to let go of beliefs that no longer serves you and embrace new beliefs that support your highest good.

Throughout her practice Marina Rose has seen her fair share of extreme cases of core beliefs creating devastating effects, such as in the case of a your girl who was suffering from Anorexia. Despite over a year of treatment from traditional doctors and psychotherapists, this young patient was still suffering tremendously with little results. In just a few short sessions of DNA Theta Core Belief Reprogramming, the results were remarkable:

“First time I called Marina Rose was when I lost my hope for my teenage daughter’s recovery from Anorexia. My daughter was in hospital on her death bed. After spending more than eight months in a hospital, and seeing several psychotherapist and other doctors for more than a year, she was still severely underweight and continued losing weight. I felt that my daughter’s case was too severe of a case for anybody to help. I thought that only magic could help my daughter because there was no progress from Traditional Anorexia Therapy from either Doctors that were Anorexia Specialist or Psychotherapists that specialized in this field.

My friend in Chicago gave me Marina’s phone number and insisted I call her. After speaking with Marina on the phone and her doing a reading on my daughter Sonia’s situation, she told me it was useless to just work on my daughter and that this problem stemmed from me. Marina told me to have total success with my daughter’s Anorexia she needed to work on the me first and then my husband.

We live in Northern California and we are about a six hour drive to LA. My husband and I both decided that we would go and meet Marina and do some sessions in person. We had to wait about a month or so for the Doctors to release my daughter Sonia from the hospital. They had to ensure that my daughter could sustain traveling because all of her vitals were so low. We spent a couple days in LA. My daughter Sonia had two sessions of DNA Theta Core Belief Reprogramming. My husband and I each had two sessions each. My daughter started to show signs of improvement after first session. In the next two months she gained about 35 pounds, and reached her normal body weight. She has also gone back to school. She has not been in school for 3 years.

Also, the psychological atmosphere in our family has changed for the better. We are more close, supportive and loving to each other. Marina’s love, knowledge, intuition, effort, and desire to help, literally healed our lives. – Olga Panich, Sunnyvale, CA

What is Theta?

The term Theta is used in DNA/Theta Core Belief Reprogramming because the practitioner enters a Theta brainwave state when performing the technique. This has been verified by numerous experiments involving Theta Healing practitioners and scientists using EEG machines to prove that Theta practitioners are indeed achieving a Theta brainwave.

Theta Brain Wave 4-7 cycles per second. It is the state of meditation, intuition, creative thinking, recalling, fantasy, imagery, dreamlike, switching thoughts “oneness” and “knowing”, it also reduces pain, promotes euphoria and stimulates the endorphin release. Theta Brain Wave state occurs in everyone, just before waking up in the morning, it is the state when you start to remember your dreams and possibly when you are still in your dream and slowly coming out the dream. Theta Brain Wave is also when you just about fall asleep. There is amazing information given to you in this Brain Wave.

Before Vianna Stibal developed the Theta Healing technique, many believed that it took 20 or 30 years of meditative practice to achieve a Theta brainwave. But, using Vianna’s technique, practitioners can enter a Theta brainwave state in a matter of seconds. Because the Theta brainwave state creates a close connection with the creative source of the universe and a powerful ability to work with the subconscious, Theta Healing practitioners are able to connect with this energy and manifest immediate, dramatic physical changes in their clients, and to heal at the core quantum level of their being.

It is in this Theta Brain Wave where the beliefs are changed and downloaded into the person. The person is like a computer accepting the downloading of a new piece of software. The person gives their permission and allows the Practitioner to pull out the old beliefs on the 4 levels – Core Beliefs, Genetic Beliefs, History Beliefs and Soul Belief that no longer serves them.

The Power Of Theta Brain Waves
You wake up in the morning, still under the spell of your night’s dream, trying to memorize its details. For a moment, you are still able to hold on to that fantastic reality, feeling its texture and contour. You try not to move, not to blink, maybe it can continue… maybe you can consciously keep that experience alive. At the same time, part of you is waking up. You hear the dog barking outside, the neighbor starting the car and you sense the early morning sunrays sneaking through the curtains. It lasts for just a few seconds and then suddenly, it is all over. You are completely awake. The dream reality fades away, the memory becomes dull as if you have travelled a very long distance from it, while the contour of that landscape blurs and loses dimension. Finally, the visceral experience of the dream state completely fades away. During those precious moments between waking and sleeping your brainwaves were in theta.

Our brain produces electrical frequencies (measured by units of hertz – the number of cycles per second), which change according to the state we are in. During deep sleep, our brain produces very slow waves (delta), while during the time between waking and sleeping the brain produces slightly faster waves which are called theta (4-7 cycles per second). During meditation and deep relaxation, when we walk through a beautiful garden, breathe deeply and close our eyes, the brain broadcasts alpha waves (7-14) and when we are in full activity, focusing on our tasks, beta waves (14-28). A state of intensive learning is often regarded as high beta or sometimes referred to as gamma waves (up to 40 cycles per seconds). An optimal state is indicated by our ability to quickly shift from one frequency to another without effort. This ability ultimately means mental flexibility and good functioning capacity in all aspects of life.

The Theta Experience

Let’s go back for a moment to the theta brainwave. Our brain slows down to this frequency under several different circumstances, all of which allow us to access greater creativity and for lack of a better word, a more “elastic” reality. It grants us the possibility to experience reality more vividly, more multi-dimensionally. During the moments between wake and sleep, we can somehow experience a reality independent of physical laws, free of the earth-bound conditioning. For a moment, even though we are already awake, limited by our sensory perception, we can still sense a different reality where we posses almost superhuman powers. I remember a time in my life when I used to dream that I was weightless and I would float in slow motion, lifting off the ground and lightly touching the earth only to be lifted again. The feeling was so real, so visceral (and so wonderful) that upon waking, I was certain I had the power to continue doing that, only to be greatly disappointed the moment I opened my eyes and put my feet on the ground.

Consciously Creating Abundance
Ask yourselves why then, are we not spending much more time in this amazing state? Why are we not accessing its power on a regular basis? It surely seems that if we could slow our brainwaves to theta, we could manifest more easily, heal more effectively, create new things and bring into reality new visions, we could express our highest potential and maybe even change the world. It appears that we actually do spend quite a lot of time in this magnificent state, actually, every night. However, we seem to have little or no control over it. It seems that the slower the brainwave, the more difficult it is for us to access it consciously. The conscious mind, by the mere fact of being conscious, cancels out the slow frequency states. The conscious mind observes reality through the five senses and becomes trapped by their limited perception of what is possible. We know that it is possible to train the mind to slow down. Through the experimental biofeedback technique, a group of alcoholics were trained during 15 separate sessions to slow their brainwave to alpha and theta. The experiment was conducted with two control groups, and the results were very promising, indicating a substantial preference for this kind of treatment with long-range positive outcomes. But who has the money or access to these kinds of treatments?

Healing Through Theta

Can you imagine all the possible uses of this amazing brainwave? For example, much of the research done on spontaneous cures of cancer indicated that almost in all cases, patients experienced a dramatic shift in awareness prior to the appearance of the cure as if they just ‘knew’ that they were going to be healed and felt connected to a source other than themselves.

Vianna understood that one of the theta brainwave’s functions was healing. According to her revelation, once she projected her consciousness above her space and called upon the Creator, her brainwaves slowed down to a theta state in less than 30 seconds and she then was able to witness miraculous things happen. The Creator was doing the healing but she had to witness it in order for it to manifest in the physical dimension. Until it is witnessed, it remains in the field of potentiality. Once we can ’see’ the healing unfolding and ‘know’ that it is done, it can happen. In the 4-7 cycles per second frequency the mind is able to access limitless possibilities outside the realm of the sensory perception.

Curing Cancer and Blindness?

What if someone told you the chronic pain you’re living with could go away within the hour? Or that you could heal even the most dreaded of illnesses such as cancer? Stories of such profound healings are increasing being heard from a host of people who have sought DNA/Core Belief Reprogramming and Theta Healing, and these people, they say, are the very proof it works. Some say they have experienced instant relief from ailments that have plagued them for years. Other belief the depth of their healing can only be described as a miracle.

Using the advance techniques of DNA Theta Core Belief Reprogramming and Theta Healing Marina Rose has treated countless patients at her thriving Santa Monica based healing arts practice, Alchemy Wellness. Many would be amazed and would challenge their belief systems by some of the successes she has experienced with Theta Healing.
“My name is Debbie and I have a 14 year old daughter Lucy who had brain cancer and was blind for 2 years due to the growth of her tumor. I was referred to Marina for Theta Healing through a friend of mine who had an extraordinary healing from her. After one Theta Healing my daughter was able to see and got her long distance sight back. My daughter has [since] had about 9 sessions with Marina and her tumor has shrunk immensely. Lucy’s Doctors have told me to keep doing what we are doing because it is working, they are shocked that her tumor has shrunk so much especially because my daughter is not having chemotherapy or radiation. The doctors don’t understand what Marina is doing, they just say “keep doing what you are doing, it’s working”.

“Lucy’s eye sight is back to 100% now. We also don’t understand what Marina is doing, however my whole family [is indebted to her] because my little girl is getting healthier and healthier every day. The love and compassion that radiates from Marina is just so life transforming and we love her and are for ever indebted to her. Thank you Marina, your are a gift from the heavens.”

Limitless Possibilities of Abundance

There are limitless possibilities for abundance in our lives. Using these new cutting edge techniques, our intuitive capacity increases, the ability to ’see’ and to ‘hear’ outside the boundaries of the physical senses expands, and we can shift our limited perception of reality. Everyone can do it. We train our brains to awaken a latent ability and direct our senses to believe in unlimited possibilities. Actually we rewire our brains to tune into a more real reality, one that is more aligned with Truth. All we need is a belief in a higher power and a desire to find and express our fullest capacity as human beings. We must strive for more; we must believe that we have powers greater than what science, medicine, or any other authority claims we have. The more we exercise our multi-dimensional vision of reality, the more we can express a higher potential for humanity.

Fighting off the strain your body has endured over the years takes commitment and a little bit of resourcefulness. As the effects of age, inactivity, and stress catch up with your body, you sometimes tend to come to a resolution that you can’t be helped, or it’s too expensive to get help. Men and women with busy lifestyles often find it difficult to hit the gym or eat the right kind of food because at the end of the day, what’s convenient and comforting is a soft sofa and a bucket of ice cream in front of the television. However, you can find solace in the fact that modern science and technology has made self and aesthetic improvement less invasive and affordable.

Weight loss and anti aging procedures in Tampa have been made more and more available to its community. Doctors have conducted numerous studies in creating less invasive procedures to help adult men and women lead better and healthier lives. Two new technologies for weight loss and anti-aging have been highly recommended by by doctors for the past 2 years. The first of which is Smart Lipo. It was introduced to patients in 2007 and has helped hundreds of people achieve their desired weight and size so they could lead more active and happy lives. It is an extremely safe procedure that promises results with faster and shorter time for recovery. People who undergo Smart Lipo can return to their normal routines after a day or two of rest.

There are basically two types of liposuction procedures: tumescent and ultrasonic. Both are surgical procedures and have been certified as safe cosmetic treatments when done under professional supervision. Smart Lipo is categorized under tumescent liposuction. It uses a special laser technology to soften and liquify excess body fat within the cells, after which can be safely and painlessly suctioned out of the problem area. The surgeon uses a small tube about 1.0 mm to 2.0 mm in diameter to collect the melted fat out of the body; and since the procedure is so safe, patients can go through the entire process conscious and wide awake.

The main feature of Smart Lipo is its FDA-approved laser technology. It is precise and can target small specific areas of our body. Laser technology, in itself, has been one of the greatest surgical innovations of the 21st century. It is used for lasik eye surgeries, dental procedures, and even major cardio and neurological surgery. Its precision lessens complications of hemorrhage inside the body as well as post-surgical discomforts that may be experienced by the patient. In addition to weight loss, it also ensures the patient with firmer and smoother skin on the areas they had work done on. This liposuction procedure is by far the safest surgical means of eliminating excess fat recommended by doctors in most states including Tampa.

The second innovation, on the other hand, came in the form of the element, oxygen. Both men and women usually start seeing small signs of aging by the age of 30. The lack of firmness and luster in our skin is an obvious sign of aging. Exposure to the hot Florida sun hastens skin aging, which is why we end up with wrinkles, fine lines, sun damage, dryness, and dark spots. Dermatologists say that visible signs of the aging process means that the deterioration has begun and reversing the course of nature would only end in vain. However, the anti-aging revolt has come up with more effective means of beating rapid aging, especially of the skin.

Oxygen treatments have been found to rejuvenate tired skin cells by feeding it with the necessary vitamins, minerals, and enzymes to breath life back to each cell. This new anti-aging treatment is ideal for mature, dry skin. You can also be sure that is is painless and safe with immediate results right after the procedure.

These two new technologies ensures us there is always a simpler yet more effective way of feeling and looking better.

Virtually everyone has concerns about some aspect of the appearance of their face. Many people may not ever encounter serious difficulties with other areas such as the upper arms, torso, legs or otherwise, or they could just think that these problems aren’t all that significant, since they’re covered under clothing, however, the face, as the most easily visible area of the body, is a cause for concern for just about everyone. Cosmetic issues involving the face, of course, can have causes unrelated to aging; many individuals are born with features which they would like to alter, whether or not they result in unpleasant attention. Large or misshapen noses, excess fat, or gaunt cheeks or lips are among the most common aesthetic concerns people have. Injury (especially to the nose), post-surgical scarring, and sun-related skin damage are among the other factors that can adversely affect the aesthetic condition of the face.

Other consequences can stem from this sort of self-consciousness regarding facial features. A lack of confidence is chief among these issues. The individual’s social life is also likely to suffer. Even the career prospects of the individual can suffer. For these reasons and many others, a constantly growing number of people are receiving facial cosmetic surgery. The figures used in this article are published by the ASAPS (American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery).

The face lift is perhaps the best known cosmetic surgical procedure for the face. Face lifts were performed over 132,000 times in the United States in 2008. Face lifts primarily target the skin and other underlying tissues of the face, which lose their elasticity over time due to the depletion of some naturally occurring chemicals, which subsequently results in loose, saggy-looking skin. Excess tissues are also sometimes excised as part of the face lift procedure, after which the remaining tissues are then tightened and lifted. Incisions are generally made along the natural folds of the skin, in places such as the skin under the chin. The resulting scarring is therefore nearly impossible to spot under normal circumstances. For patients who only require slight corrections, more targeted versions of the face lift are available. These include the upper, lower, and mid face lifts, which address the indicated areas of the face and may be more desirable for certain patients.

Rhinoplasty – surgical reshaping of the nose – is another well-known form of facial cosmetic surgery. More than 152,000 rhinoplasties were performed in the US in 2008. There are a number of reasons as to why a patient may consider a rhinoplasty: it could be for cosmetic reasons, including a reduction in the length or width of the nose, removing the hump from the upper bridge, repositioning the nose or altering its angle, or repairing crookedness. Additionally, rhino-plasty plastic surgery is also often performed on individuals who have difficulty breathing properly due to the shape of the bone or tissue structure structure of the nose or the septum.

While the name “blepharoplasty” may not be as well known as those of some other types of cosmetic surgery, this is actually the most popular type of facial cosmetic surgery, carried out more than 195,000 times in 2008 in the United States. Blepharoplasty literally means surgery to alter the shape of the eyelid. The eyelids play a major role in establishing the overall appearance of the face, and because of this they are considered a good area to target for improvement. Saggy eyelids and darkened bags below the eyelids, which occur in almost everyone sooner or later, are liable to make the individual appear to be more fatigued than he or she actually is, and therefore, younger-looking eyelids give the face as a whole a more energetic appearance. Within the field of blepharoplasty, there are several approaches and techniques in use. There’s lower blepharoplasty, which works against the appearance of bags below the eyelids, and upper eyelid surgery, which can tighten the upper eyelid and rejuvenate the appearance of the eye area, along with correction of certain visual problems caused by drooping of the upper eyelid. Asian blepharoplasty, which adds an additional crease in the upper eyelid for patients of Asian descent, is another very popular operation. Each blepharoplasty procedure generally involves only small incisions, which are placed in the folds of the eyelids themselves, or at the lines of the eyelashes, resulting in negligible visible scarring.

All surgical procedures involve risks, and may not be appropriate for individuals with certain allergies or other medical conditions. Individuals need to be aware of the limits of realistic expectations in terms of alteration of physical features, and adhere to a strict recovery regimen after the procedure. Consult with a surgeon to determine whether facial cosmetic surgery is a good choice for you.

“If we lived in perfect world, there wouldn’t be a need for managers.
However, the reality is, we live in an imperfect world.”
- Bryce’s Law

INTRODUCTION

There is an old joke whereby a new manager had been hired by a company to
take over an operation. As the new manager was moving into his office he happened
to bump into his predecessor who was preparing to leave. The new manager asked
if there was any advice the former manager could offer on assuming his duties. The
former manager said he had written down advice for his successor and placed them
in three envelopes in the desk marked “1,” “2,” and “3″, and that they should only be
opened in the event of an emergency. The new manager laughed, shrugged it off,
and went about his business thinking nothing about the envelopes.

The manager’s reign started off fine but inevitably ran into a problem for which
he had no solution. Desperate, he happened to remember the three envelopes
and opened Number 1 which offered the following advice: “Blame
your predecessor.” The manager thought this was a clever way to get
himself off the hook and used it to good effect.

Time went by until the manager was faced with another seemingly impossible
hurdle. Not knowing what to do, he turned to envelope Number 2 containing
a note that read simply: “Reorganize.” The manager thought this
was a sound idea and set about reorganizing his operation. Organization
charts were redrawn, job descriptions modified, and new office furniture and
equipment obtained.

The reorganization overcame the manager’s problem but he eventually
ran into a crisis taxing his abilities as a manager. At a total loss as to
what to do, the manager turned in desperation to envelope Number 3 which
included a note that read, “Prepare three envelopes.”

Laugh as we might to this anecdote, there is a bit of truth in it. Too often
people rise above their level of competency to take on the job of
manager. Let me give you an example; in the Information Technology
field, the first job a college graduate typically assumes in this area is that of
a programmer. As time progresses and the programmer excels in his
duties, he is promoted to senior programmer, to analyst, to supervisor, then
to manager. In this particular scenario, the manager is still a programmer in
sheep’s clothing. The point is, people are too often given the title of
manager without any knowledge or skills in how to do their job. Companies
are quick to spend a lot on the latest technological gizmo, but little on
management.

Consequently, this is a guide for those of you aspiring to become a
manager or have recently been promoted to a management position
and are at a loss as to how to implement your duties. This is not
necessarily a guide for someone with a fast-track mentality and only
see your job as nothing more than a mere steppingstone on your career path. Then
again, maybe this is for you after all. If you prove yourself to be a productive
manager, new opportunities will present themselves to you. But make no
mistake, the lessons inculcated herein are not suited for someone with a
“quick and dirty” mindset but, rather, for someone conscientious about
their job.

ASSUMING RESPONSIBILITY

There is more to management than a fancy new job title, a new office,
and all of the other perks accompanying it. These trappings may be nice, but
they are not being given to you just because you are a nice fellow, you are
expected to earn them. More than anything, management is about
responsibility. Whereas the individual worker is only concerned about himself,
the manager is responsible to his superiors to implement policy and get a job
done, and; to his subordinates who depend on his judgment and abilities. If you
do not have the mental acuity to accept responsibility, then being a manager
is not for you. Its better you recognize this now before it is too late. As an
example, I have a friend who is an expert craftsman working for a
machine-tool company in Cincinnati. His skill and workmanship caught the
eye of senior management who promoted him to manager in the hopes he could
properly guide the junior workers. Unfortunately, becoming a manager was
unnerving to him. Now, instead of just worrying about producing a quality
product himself, he had to worry about the work of employees under him. This
was more than he could handle and he developed an ulcer. The stress was
simply too much for him and he asked to return to the ranks of the
workmen. To his credit, he understood his limitations. Unfortunately,
many do not and try to bluff their way through their career. Sometimes
they get caught, many times they do not.

KNOW THE BUSINESS

The first thing you should know as a manager is the business of your company
and where you fit in its scheme. Years ago, my father was hired by the
Quaker Oats Company in Chicago as MIS Director. During his first few weeks,
he took a crash course in how Quaker’s business worked. He saw everything
from the manufacturing of cereals and cookies to the production of dog food
(Ken-L Ration). By going through this indoctrination, he came away with an
understanding of how the business worked and who his department would have
to serve.

Too often managers and employees lose sight of the company’s purpose and
overall direction. If the company’s mission is forgotten or misunderstood, then
there is a tendency for areas in the company to work at odds with the rest of the
company. This, of course, is counterproductive. For example, I have seen far too
many people in Information Technology departments who honestly believe the
business of their company was programming and not the delivery of the products
or services offered by the company. In order to adequately serve the company,
it is essential a manager expand his horizon and take a more global look
at the business.

To properly understand a business, a manager should know:

The products and/or services offered by the company.

How the business is organized and who is responsible for what.

What the company’s current priorities are.

The company’s marketplace. This includes the types of customers
it serves, the competitors it does battle with, and the vendors/suppliers
it works with.

The operating policies of the company (e.g., Policy Manual).

The corporate culture in terms of expressed or implied acceptable
forms of behavior (social structure).

The Japanese refer to this broader perspective as thinking in “360 Degrees.” In
other words, in an age of specialization, it is wise to be aware of the total picture
of the business, thereby understanding the influential factors affecting you.

RUN YOUR DEPARTMENT LIKE A BUSINESS

Although the manager will have responsibility over only a portion of the business
(be it a division, department or a group) it is wise to think of your area as an
autonomous business. This is not to suggest developing a maverick attitude
in opposition to corporate objectives and culture, but for organizational purposes.
By assuming the role of a separate business entity, the manager is more inclined
to exercise good judgment, focus on the necessary work effort, consider risks,
and develop an entrepreneurial spirit.

Establishing your “business” begins with a thorough understanding of the
products and/or services your area is required to produce and the processes
needed to produce them. This will not necessarily be the same products and/or
services as commercially offered by the company, but rather components of
them. Regardless of their magnitude, think of them as the “finished goods”
your business is responsible for producing. From this viewpoint, we can begin
to measure production (your department’s own GNP).

Just as it is important to know the company’s business, it is important for
the manager to understand his department’s business in order to properly
operate within its scope. This includes:

Knowing the products and/or services to be produced by the department
along with the processes required to produce them.

Knowing your customers (to better serve them).

Knowing your vendors (to better serve you).

Knowing your lateral working relationships within the company so that
you understand your department’s alliances and how to work with them.

To establish your “business” you need three things:

Defined Infrastructure – as represented by a simple organization
chart and associated job descriptions.

Financial operating budget. In this regard, the ability to use spreadsheets
should be considered a prerequisite for the job of manager. Devising a
budget is relatively easy, adhering to it is another matter altogether.

Take stock of your human and machine resources so you
know the availability and capability of your resources. A
Skills Inventory is invaluable for cataloging resources, along
with their skills and proficiencies. It can also highlight weaknesses
requiring training or supplemental resources. Also, a Project
Management (PM) system is useful for studying resource
allocations and monitoring activities.

For additional information, see:

Number 15 – Creating a Skills Inventory – Mar 14, 2005

http://www.phmainstreet.com/mba/ss050311.pdf

“PRIDE” Project Management

http://www.phmainstreet.com/mba/pride/pm.htm

A Human Resources department can also offer assistance in this regards.

These three items (Infrastructure, Budget, and Inventory) are useful
for establishing the scope and boundary of the department, as well as the
parameters you will be operating under.

Finally, understand the owners of your business and its board of directors as
represented by your superiors and perhaps lateral relationships. By thinking
in terms of an autonomous business you will become more self-sufficient
and become more conscious of serving your customers.

YOUR THREE PRIME DUTIES

As manager you have three prime duties to perform: Provide Leadership,
Establish the proper work Environment, and Produce/Deliver your
products or services.

LEADERSHIP

As the field general for his department, the manager should be able to articulate
the objectives of his area, and the strategy for conquering them. In other words, he
has to have a vision and be able to effectively communicate it to his subordinates
in order to instill confidence and provide a sense of direction. People like to know
where they are going and appreciate some direction in their lives. As social creatures,
we take comfort in knowing we are working in a concerted manner towards common
objectives we deem important. As such, not only does a manager need a vision, he
must be able to convince his workers of its necessity. If the workers believe in
the manager’s vision and are confident in his ability to lead them, they will gladly
follow him.

Following this, the manager must be able to develop practical project plans
for the staff to follow (e.g., work breakdown structures and dependencies, and
priorities). These project plans should be explained to the staff along with their
rationale. By doing so, workers cannot claim they didn’t know the plan or what
their role was in it. Think of the game of football where plays are called for the
eleven players on the field; all are given assignments to perform towards a common
objective. If any one player doesn’t know the plan, in all likelihood he will make
a wrong move and cause the team to lose yardage. As my football coach was
fond of saying, “A team is as strong as its weakest player.” Planning requires
communications which ultimately leads to teamwork and harmony. To this
end, keep your project plans and calendars up-to-date and visible to everyone
in the department.

In any given area of a business you will find projects that are similar or repetitious
in nature. For example, processing an order, building a product, etc. All are based
on standard and accepted processes performed time and again. As such,
documenting standard methodologies for use as templates can materially assist in
expediting project planning. Further, consistent work effort leads to measurable
and uniform results, as well as providing a standard and consistent line of
communications between project personnel. The use of defined and reusable
methodologies is also encouraged by standards organizations, such as ISO-9000.

In order for the manager to instill a sense of confidence in the staff, he must not
only be able to demonstrate he knows what he is talking about, he must also express
a high level of moral conduct. The manager’s word should be considered his bond. If
he is caught in a lie, cheating, defrauding, back stabbing, or some other misconduct,
this will be noticed by the staff who will no longer trust him. A true manager is
a person of integrity.

Finally, beware of becoming a “reactionary” manager whereby you simply go
from one problem to another as they occur. Under this scenario, the manager is
not in control of his department’s destiny and has to dance to the tune of someone
else’s fiddle. Some reactionary management will inevitably be necessary, but
take control over your environment and practice more “proactive” management as
opposed to “reactive” management. Too often people are lulled into a reactive
mode of operation or as we refer to it, a “fire fighting mode” of operating. As a
manager, you are cautioned to beware of your chief firefighters, they are probably
your chief arsonists as well. Also remember the old adage, “If you don’t make the
decision, the decision will be made for you.” Control your destiny: take a proactive
approach to management.

ENVIRONMENT

The astute manager will appreciate the need for cultivating the proper work
environment. If a worker feels comfortable in his environment, he will feel
amenable to working and will take a more positive view of his job. But if a
“sweat shop” environment is provided, the worker will dread coming to work
and put forth minimal effort to accomplish his job.

There are two dimensions for creating a work environment: logical and physical. The
physical aspect is somewhat easier to explain and involves the facilities and equipment
used in the business, both of which impact morale and attitudes towards work. How
people behave in a clean and contemporary facility is noticeably different than those
working under dingy and antiquated conditions. Whereas the former supports a
professional attitude, the latter promotes a lackadaisical attitude. Basically, a clean
and contemporary work place is saying to the employees, “I care about you and am
willing to invest in you.” However, the economic reality may be you cannot
afford the latest “state-of-the-art” facilities or equipment. Nonetheless, you should make
an effort to keep your physical surroundings as clean and up-to-date as possible. As
an example, the military typically operates under a philosophy whereby you
either work on something, store it away, or dispose of it. This forces people to
be organized. There are those who would argue “a cluttered desk is the sign
of a brilliant mind.” Nothing could be further from the truth. A cluttered desk
represents laziness and disorganization. People, particularly customers, prefer
an orderly workplace. Think about it next time you go to a grocery store.

The point is, our physical surroundings affect our attitudes towards our work. For
example, I know of a print shop with a manager who insists on keeping it spotless. Their
paper products are packaged and shipped promptly, inventory is well stocked and
maintained, waste is disposed of immediately, and the machines are routinely cleaned
and kept in pristine form. Further, the printers are dressed in uniform jumpsuits to keep
ink and chemicals from soiling their clothes underneath. Contrast this with the typical
print shop that is often cluttered with debris and the machines are infrequently cleaned. The
printers of the “clean” shop have a much more positive and professional attitude regarding
their work than other printers working in “dirty” shops. Further, absenteeism is not
a problem in the “clean” shop and the printers are proud of the products they
produce. Basically, they see their workplace as an extension of their home and treat
it as such.

As a footnote, I asked the manager of the print shop why his printers kept the
facility so clean when others were so dirty. He jokingly confided in me, “They don’t
know any better.” In reality, the manager had set operating standards and routinely
inspected the premises to assure they were adhered to. Over time, it became a
natural part of the print shop’s culture and now he rarely has to inspect them. This,
of course, means discipline which leads us to the logical aspect of our work environment.

Whereas the physical aspects of the work environment are tangible and easy to
assimilate, the logical aspects are intangible and perhaps harder to manipulate
for it involves dealing with human perceptions, attitudes and emotions. Along these
lines, there are three considerations:

A. Corporate Culture

The corporate culture is expressed in terms of the accepted customs, morality,
and society of the institution.

Customs dictate the expected manner of conduct for the culture. It prescribes
the etiquette to be observed in dress, speech, courtesy and politics
(gamesmanship). Several companies, most notably IBM, have long
understood the power of customs. These norms are established to
project a particular image the company wishes to convey.

Morality is the basis for our values. It influences our judgment in terms
of what is ethical and what is not. Although uniform morality sounds
attractive to executives, it can be quite dangerous if unethical practices are
allowed to creep into the moral fiber of the company.

Society defines our interpersonal relationships. This
includes how we elect to govern and live our lives. Society
defines the class structure in an organization, from Chairman of
the Board to the hourly worker. It defines government, laws and
institutions which must be observed by its members.

A corporate policy manual is useful for explaining the official rules and
regulations of a business, but rarely will you find the corporate culture
expressed in print. Why? Because it changes with time as people
come and go from the organization. Typically, a new worker is taught
the corporate culture by either the manager, by other workers with more
tenure of service, or by personal observation. This brings up an important
point: Culture is learned. To illustrate, I know a baseball manager
who inherited a high school team with a long tradition of losing. To
overcome this problem, the coach had to break habits, change attitudes,
and impose new disciplines. By reshaping the culture of the team,
the coach eventually turned them into winners for several years. Even
after the coach retired, the team continued their winning ways because
the coach had succeeded in embedding the culture into the psyche
of the team. Concepts such as discipline, organization, workmanship,
and accountability are all derived from the corporate culture.

This brings up another point: changing the corporate culture is no
easy task. As creatures of habit, humans have a natural aversion to
change of any kind. Yet, in order for a manager to succeed he has
to be able to modify the corporate culture in his area to suit his needs. To
do so, the manager can either dictate the changes, have his subordinates
establish a new path, or a combination of both. Either way, it is necessary
to establish examples and set precedents, thereby establishing models for
others to assimilate. Understand this, if you do not teach the corporate
culture properly, the workers will learn it on their own.

Devising standards of conduct is the first step in instilling discipline
in your workers. This begins with standard and consistent terminology
in order to avoid a “Tower of Babel” effect during production. Once a
standard is established, enforce it. There is little point in enacting a
change if nobody is going to enforce it. To this end, the manager must
do more than inspect and enforce, he must lead by example. If the
manager is caught violating the norms of the corporate culture, it will
not go unnoticed by his subordinates who will in all likelihood assimilate
the indiscretion.

Finally, be wary of creating a subculture at odds with the overall
corporate culture. Senior management will allow some leeway in
your department’s behavior as long as it doesn’t seriously conflict
with corporate standards.

For more information on corporate culture, see:

B. Management Style

In my last bulletin, I described the three theories of management,
X, Y, Z, each having a different philosophical basis than the others. See:

No. 50 – “How Do We Manage?” – November 14, 2005

http://www.phmainstreet.com/mba/ss051114.pdf

It now becomes necessary to determine your own personal style of
management, for example:

Will you take a dictatorial approach and try to “micromanage”
everything or will you allow group participation in the decision
making process?

Will you provide for additional training to cultivate the staff or
will this be left to their own discretion?

How much personal responsibility will you allow your workers to
assume, a little, a lot, or nothing at all?

How much discipline and organization do you require?

As mentioned in the “How Do We Manage?” article, managers will
use different elements of Theories X, Y and Z to suit their needs. It
is all ultimately based on the manager’s perceptions of the workers
in terms of their intelligence level, motivation, and attitudes towards
work. This is why it is important the manager studies and understands
his employees. If he is in tune with his workers, he will devise a suitable
management style that both the manager and the workers can
accept. Ultimately, the manager is seeking a uniform and consistent
management style that is fair and won’t show favoritism, thereby
affecting morale.

Keep in mind, management is most definitely NOT a democracy, it is a dictatorship,
be it autocratic or benevolent. How much freedom the workers are allowed
is based on what the manager allows.

But the manager should never be afraid to push the staff to
excel to a new level and affect his department’s culture (as seen
in the baseball manager example). Being a manager means that
you are not in the popularity business. Do not be afraid to exercise
your authority if the need arises. Your decisions will not always be
popular with the staff. Regardless, you have a job to do.

Understand this, in many situations people prefer to be told what to
do and will willingly go along with the manager’s orders if they believe
it to be for their own good. But beware of becoming overbearing and
stifling the freedom and creativity of your workers. Get them to work for
you as opposed to against you.

In order to promote morale, the manager should not only be fair and effective
in implementing change, he should be the primary cheerleader. If the
manager loses his faith in his department’s ability to perform, his workers
will lose faith in his ability to lead them.

As for me, I tend to believe what President Ronald Reagan said,
“Surround yourself with the best people you can find, delegate authority,
and don’t interfere as long as the policy you’ve decided upon is being carried out.”

I am very much a believer in empowering people as opposed to
trying to micromanage everyone. However, sometimes it is necessary to
micromanage the activities of others in order to obtain the precise results
you want when you want them, but realize this may result in having an
adverse affect on your staff. Its like saying, “Look, you’re not smart enough
to do this, so I will direct your activity.” As the old saying goes, “If something
is urgent, do it yourself. If you have time, delegate it. If you have forever,
form a committee.” The manager should be smart enough to stay a couple
of steps ahead of the staff and constantly review project plans so that
micromanagement is not necessary.

To assist in empowering people, I believe a manager should manage
bottom-up, as opposed to just top-down. Under this philosophy, the
manager assigns project plans and authority to perform work
(top-down) and the staff should participate in the project estimating
process and work according to their assignments (bottom-up). This is why
in “PRIDE” Project Management we do not make use of the concept
of “man hours,” but rather, “Direct Time” and “Indirect Time.” Direct
Time represents the time necessary to perform the necessary assignments
and is managed by the individual worker. Indirect Time represents
interferences or distractions from performing the work and is the
responsibility of the manager to control. For example, meetings,
training, reviewing periodicals, and breaks may fall under the
category of Indirect Time. If a worker is behind schedule on an
assignment, the manager may opt to minimize the distractions so
the worker can tend to their work. The ratio of Direct Time to
Indirect Time is referred to as “Effectiveness Rate.”

Effectiveness Rate = (Direct Time + Indirect Time) / 100

In most office work, employees are typically 70% effective, meaning
in an eight hour day they perform approximately five hours of direct
work. Effectiveness Rate should not be construed as an efficiency
rating. For example, a worker can have a high effectiveness rate
yet be your worst worker; it just means he knows how to manage his
time. Further, a worker could have a low effectiveness rate, yet be
your most productive worker. The concept of effectiveness rate is
useful for computing project schedules, but more importantly, it represents
worker empowerment. Again, the worker is responsible for their Direct Time,
and the manager is responsible for Indirect Time. For more information
on this subject, see:

No. 09 – “Managing from the Bottom-Up” – Jan 31, 2005

http://www.phmainstreet.com/mba/ss050131.pdf

The manager’s ultimate goal is to promote teamwork. Sure, you
will have individuals who can perform miracles, but they must either
become an intricate member of the team or get out. Remember,
teamwork can accomplish far more than individual effort.

C. Continuous Improvement

The manager should be intimate with all aspects of production in
his area. Further, he should be constantly looking for new and
imaginative ways for improving it. Before doing so, the manager
should understand this fundamental concept of productivity:

Productivity = Effectiveness X Efficiency

Too often people fallaciously equate productivity with efficiency.
This is simply not true. Efficiency simply represents how fast we
can perform a given task. For example, an industrial robot on an
assembly line can perform a task such as welding very precisely and
quickly. But if the weld is being performed at the wrong time or
wrong place, then it is counterproductive, regardless of how efficiently
it performs the task. Effectiveness, on the other hands, is concerned
with the necessity of the task itself or as we like to say, “Do the right
things.” Under this scenario, the manager should consider effectiveness
first, and efficiency second. Undoubtedly, the manager will meet
salesmen who will offer products promising improvements in
efficiency. But if they cannot meld into your operations effectively,
it will be counterproductive. By being conscious of both effectiveness
and efficiency, the manager can avoid the “Rearranging the Deck Chairs
on the Titanic” phenomenon whereby people work on the wrong
things at the wrong time.

The latest gizmo may be technologically enticing, but the manager
should be looking for pragmatic cost-effective solutions to adapt to his
environment. Consider this, even if you purchase the latest technological
marvel, will your people be sophisticated enough to use it? Further,
the new technology may require the development of a dependency on
a new vendor. To me, the simple solutions are the best. Be practical
and be wary of developing a “Keeping up with the Jones’” mentality. After
all, the Jones’ may be in more trouble than you are.

Whether the implementation of change is large or small, recognize
that people will resist it until it becomes a natural part of the corporate
culture. As creatures of habit, humans have a natural aversion to
change, even if it is for their own good. But if the manager is convinced
of the necessity of the change, he must persist in its implementation. Dealing
with change is a difficult challenge for the manager and the subject
of another article:

No. 24 – “Why We Resist Change” – May 16, 2005

http://www.phmainstreet.com/mba/ss050516.pdf

If there is anything constant in life, it is change. Both the manager and
his workers should understand this; it is a natural part of our lives. Don’t
fight it, adapt to it. But understand this, change simply for the sake of
change is ridiculous. There should always be a significant reason for
the implementation of change.

Understanding that change is an inherent part of life, the manager should
consider the need for ongoing training of his workers to enhance their
skills. Again, a Skills Inventory can assist in monitoring the staff’s
abilities and devising suitable training programs to suit your department’s
needs. Also encourage your staff to participate in trade groups and
subscribe to trade related publications to stay abreast of developments
and sharpen their skills.

The bottom-line on Environment: As manager, you want to create a workplace
people want to come to and think of as their home away from home; a place
they are proud of, loyal to, and take pride in workmanship. As noted British
economic historian Arnold Toynbee said, “The supreme accomplishment is
to blur the line between work and play.”

PRODUCE/DELIVER

Equal to Leadership and creating the proper Environment, is the manager’s duty
of being able to Produce the products or services he is charged to deliver. Even
if you have the best plans and environment, if you fail to deliver your products
or services, you have failed as a manager. To illustrate, one of President Lincoln’s
first commanders of the Army of the Potomac during the American Civil War was
General George B. McClellan, an extraordinary engineer and organizer, but a
complete failure at execution. If you are convinced of a specific course of action,
do not procrastinate, act. An opportunity rarely presents itself twice.

Producing includes delivering quality goods on-time, on-schedule, and within
budget. Consequently, it is wise to establish a production control function within
your area; someone charged with monitoring activities and expediting problems
that might arise. This can take many forms depending on the size of your department
and available resources, be it a sharp secretary, a perceptive foreman or
supervisor, or a staff of people to oversee production. Here, tools like Project
Management (PM) systems and work measurement tools provide great
assistance in this regard. PM is used for reporting time, costs, and monitoring
schedules. Work measurement tools analyze trends and performance, be it
words typed per minute, number of keystrokes, compilations, machine cycles,
or time performing a given task versus mistakes or errors made. Not only are
such tools invaluable for troubleshooting production schedules but are also
useful for spotting inefficiencies in need of improvement.

In terms of delivering a quality product/service, the manager should understand
the relationship of quality to the time necessary to produce the goods.

http://www.phmainstreet.com/mba/blog/ss051121.jpg

The faster the product is produced, the more likely it will contain defects in
workmanship; conversely, the more time allowed in production, the greater the
chances for producing a high-quality product. Although everyone stresses the need
for quality, the reality is the manager must be able to balance development time
against defects in workmanship and that a suitable development time needs to
be devised to match the level of quality desired. This also means the level
of precision in production is proportional to the level of quality desired, all of
which will greatly influence a manager’s style of management. For example,
in a high pressure situation, the manager may exercise more supervision and a
little friendly bullying in order to get the job done. Under less pressure, the manager
will allow more worker freedom and participation in developing decisions.

Finally, the manager should keep an eye on the bottom-line and be smart
enough to know when he has hit a wall and know when to ask for help.
But please do not be driven by just numbers; consider risk as well as
opportunity. For additional info, see:

No. 48 – “The First Thing We Do, Let’s Kill all the Bean Counters” – Oct 31, 2005

http://www.phmainstreet.com/mba/ss051031.pdf

THE MANAGER’S PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

As indicated in the introduction, people often inherit the job of manager
with little training or background. Since management primarily deals
with people, a manager should possess good interpersonal relations/communications
skills, including:

Public speaking

Persuasion & salesmanship

Rhetorical thought

Interviewing

Negotiating

Debate

Listening

Reasoning

Patience

Counseling

Team building & coaching

Writing skills (for such things as memos, proposals, and business letters)

Basic math (for calculating cost/benefit analysis and return on investments)

You should never lose sight of the fact that you work for, with, and get things
done through people.

Other than this, the manager should understand:

A. How to hire/fire people as well as how to do a performance appraisal.

Corporate policy manuals will undoubtedly have standards to be observed in
this regards. Nonetheless, be fair and objective. I always thought the best training
for learning honesty and fairness is by spending time as an umpire or referee in
sports. My years as a Little League umpire taught me a lot and allowed be to sleep
well at night. Even if you despise a person, do not stoop to their level; be fair and
impartial, the world will think better of you. Also, be smart enough admit when
you have made a mistake and remedy the situation.

When evaluating a worker’s job performance, be wary of the Peter Principle
whereby a person has been elevated to their level of incompetence. Keeping
people at such a level is a disservice not only to the company, but to the worker
as well. When a person has risen above their level of competency, it will become
obvious to others and may affect morale. Consequently, the manager’s ability
to be fair and equitable will begin to be questioned by the workers. Standard and
routine performance appraisals should help overcome this problem. But if they
are infrequently performed or done in an inconsistent manner, the Peter Principle
will inevitably kick in. However, if you, as manager, believe the person is worth
salvaging, work with the person and get him back on track.

For additional information on firing people, see:

B. How to deal with corporate politics.

As social animals living in a competitive society, politics is a fact of life,
be it on a grand scale or a minor request for your consideration. Don’t
ignore it, address it. In Western culture, it is customary for people
to dig and scratch their way to the top, be it by merit or by politics
(predominantly the latter). In the Eastern culture, primarily Japan,
a class of workers are put on the same career path for ten years,
after which their performance is evaluated and rewarded accordingly. This
system promotes merit over politics. Interestingly, whereas the
Western system promotes individual achievement, the Eastern system
promotes teamwork. The corporate culture has a lot to do with
this. Regardless, office politics is a fact of life in all societies.

As a manager, it is wise to identify the various fiefdoms of the company,
who the Kings are, how their subcultures operate, and the general pecking
order. Learn to keep your distance, operate within your own realm and do
not try to usurp the authority of another thereby creating an enemy. Stay
focused on your own territory. When dealing with the other fiefdoms, a little
diplomacy can go a long way. Understand this, what people should do
logically is not necessarily what they will do emotionally. A person skilled
in tact and proper etiquette will survive a lot longer in the corporate
world than someone who does not. Your intention should be to develop
allies as opposed to enemies who will stab you in the back at an
opportune moment.

All corporate politics are based on human ego and the higher you
go up in the organization, the bigger the egos will inevitably be. People
will fight you over a variety of things, be it simple competition and
domination, jealousy, sheer spite, or because they simply don’t like how
you look today or something you said. This is where being “politically
correct” comes in handy. Understand corporate politics, but do not let it
consume your time or distract you from your mission.

If corporate politics turn ugly or vicious, be prepared to either turn the
other cheek or be prepared to fight back. Both are useful. Turning
the other cheek may win the admiration of your staff by not stooping
to the level of your opponent, but some may also see it as a sign of weakness
in your character. Fighting an issue will tell them you are a principled
man who is not afraid to stand up to adversity, but it also may say to
them you are a hothead. If you need direction, seek the advice of your
superiors or contemporaries and discuss the problem. Sometimes the
best solution is to sit down with your opponent and offer your hand in
peace. Even if this fails, your superiors and subordinates will know
you at least extended the olive branch and will not blame you for any
other action you might take.

Create a spirit of cooperation as opposed to competition. As noted quality
expert W. Edwards Deming liked to say, “Create Win-Win situations.” Instead
of a Win-Lose situation, where one party wins at the expense of another party’s
loss, why not establish partnering programs whereby both parties win? I remember
how Deming used to like to talk about “Nylon” which represented a successful
joint venture between two parties, one in New York (NY) and one in London
(LON). Remember, the only good business relationship is one where both parties
benefit. To this end, forge alliances within your company and support an
“Open Door” policy, not only to the workers of your department, but to
the rest of the company as well. Keep the lines of communications open.

Finally, be on the lookout for gossip pertaining to your department and
be prepared to do a little rumor control. Gossip and rumors can spread
like wildfire in your department and can have an adverse affect on morale To
nip it, you should have a standard and consistent line of communication with
your subordinates as well as lateral relationships. For example, daily/weekly
e-mails or memos discussing plans and developments in the department. If
your people are well informed, they will be less likely to fall prey to gossip.

C. Is image everything?

To a lot of people in Western society, image is much more important than
producing results. For example, I have a friend who serves as a
Systems Manager in New England who had an important project
requiring supplemental help in programming. Consequently, he began to
recruit programmers by offering very competitive salaries and generous
benefits packages. Interestingly, he had one applicant turn my friend down
simply because the applicant wanted the title of “Software Engineer” as
opposed to a mere “Programmer.”

Image is nice but lacks credibility if you cannot produce. Our job titles,
form of dress and physical appearance, speech, mannerisms, and political
moxie all affect human perceptions. Yes, image is important but do not
rely on it entirely. You must be able to back it up.

As manager, dress appropriately; dress for success. Create the proper
image you want your staff to emulate. But don’t put on false airs that
can be easily seen through by your workers. Otherwise, your credibility
will be shot.

Lead by example. Never ask someone to do something you aren’t prepared
to do yourself. And always remember to speak the right word at the
right time. As Benjamin Franklin said, “Remember not only to say the right
thing in the right place, but far more difficult still, to leave unsaid the wrong
thing at the tempting moment.”

LESSONS LEARNED

The following is a summary of the lessons inculcated herein:

Management = Responsibility

Know the business. Think in terms of “360 Degrees.”

Run your department like a business.

As manager you have three prime duties to perform: Provide Leadership,
Establish the proper working Environment, and Produce/Deliver your
products or services.

The manager’s word should be considered his bond.

A true manager is a person of integrity.

Beware of your chief firefighters, they are probably your chief arsonists as well.

Control your destiny. Be proactive as opposed to reactive.

Our physical surroundings affect our attitudes towards our work.

Culture is learned.

Insist on standard terminology; thereby avoiding a “Tower of Babel” effect.

Once a standard is established, enforce it. There is little point in enacting a
change if nobody is going to enforce it.

Changing the corporate culture is no easy task.

Be wary of creating a subculture at odds with the overall corporate culture.

The manager should be smart enough to stay a couple of steps ahead of the
staff and constantly revising project plans so that micromanagement is not necessary.

Management is most definitely NOT a democracy, it is a dictatorship,
be it autocratic or benevolent. How much freedom the workers are allowed
is based on what the manager allows.

Being a manager means that you are not in the popularity business.

Manage from the bottom-up, not just top-down. Empower people and hold them
accountable for their actions.

Effectiveness Rate = (Direct Time + Indirect Time) / 100

The worker is responsible for managing their Direct Time, and the manager is
responsible for controlling Indirect Time.

Teamwork can accomplish far more than individual effort.

Productivity = Effectiveness X Efficiency

If there is anything constant in life, it is change.

Whether the implementation of change is large or small, recognize
that people will resist it until it becomes a natural part of the corporate
culture. As creatures of habit, humans have a natural aversion to
change, even if it is for their own good.

The supreme accomplishment is to blur the line between work and play.

Even if you have the best plans and environment, if you fail to deliver your products
or services, you have failed as a manager.

If you are convinced of a specific course of action, do not procrastinate, act.
An opportunity rarely presents itself twice.

You should never lose sight of the fact that you work for, with, and get things
done through people.

Keeping people at a level of incompetence is a disservice not only to the company,
but to the worker as well.

If corporate politics turn ugly or viscous, be prepared to either turn the
other cheek or be prepared to fight back.

The only good business relationship is where both parties benefit.

Keep the lines of communications open.

Create “Win-Win” situations.

Image is nice but lacks credibility if you cannot produce.

CONCLUSION

The lessons listed above are based on 30 years of practice and observations
in hundreds of commercial and nonprofit enterprises around the world. They
are commonsense approaches that are universally applicable and transcend
company type.

There is more to management than saying, “Lead, follow, or get the hell out
of the way.” It is a people-oriented function requiring someone intimate
with the business of the enterprise and well versed in interpersonal
communications/relations. Someone who knows how to get what he
wants through people. Regardless of the management tools of the day, they
do not make the decisions, the human-being does. I encourage people to
use suitable management tools, but more importantly, I encourage them to
develop their people skills first. Consequently, a manager is one part visionary,
one part coach, and one part politician.

The ultimate measurement of a manager’s abilities is whether the department
can function successfully in his absence. By creating a well oiled machine,
the manager’s goal is to do himself out of a job and leave the department
better off than when he first took charge.

The business schools do not teach these lessons. I’m just filling in the
gaps. Hopefully these lessons will serve you well as manager. If not, you
can always prepare three envelopes.
