If you are currently in the process of starting a small business, the first important thing you should keep in mind is a <a href="http://blog.bizcloud.net/2009/08/importance-of-having-a-business-plan-for-starting-and-running-a-business/"title="business plan" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/article_exit_link');" >small business plan. Each year, because of a variety of reasons a large number of individuals plan to start a business. Yet despite the desire and motivation to run their own business, many don’t get off the starting blocks. One of the reasons for the inability to get a business off the ground is the lack of a clear thought process – the task appears so daunting that the idea quickly fades away. One tried and tested method for developing ideas into action is to write a business plan. Business plan will serve as a stepping-stone of your business success. Whilst it may come in different formats you will find that all business plans have the same aim and that is to give a clear idea and direction as to exactly what your business is or will be.

One of the key benefits to having a business plan is that you will know what you need to do to get your business up and running. For example, if you know what type of customers you will be targeting and how, you have a better chance of success. In a way, a business plan for a start up business (or one that is looking to expand) is essentially a to-do list. A business plan will force you to think about the steps you need to take to get your business up and running; it ensures you get your planning as accurate as possible. A business plan is a great guide, especially if this is your first time starting your own business.

Business plans are also an effective tool and requirement to attract capital to invest in your business. Venture capitalists are individuals or a company that can provide you with the necessary capital that you need to start a business. Business loans are used to finance new business start ups or give a boost to your existing business for growth and improvement. These loans are tailored according to your requirements. And a business plan is really the only way (other than your charm!) to convince a financial lender or investor that their money will be put to good use and is safe in your hands. It is also an ideal tool to use when selling your business. A business plan will not only let an intended buyer know exactly what your business is or what it does, but it will also help them understand exactly how it got to where it is today. Even if you have not got your business off the ground, you may still be able to sell your idea based on your business plan and the research you have done. An effectively written business plan can be the spring board to realize a good selling price for the core idea of a new business.

Now there are a number of business plan software packages and self-help books that sell thousands and thousands of copies. Software can be very helpful in developing financial models and preparing projections. But they are not going to write the narrative sections of the business plan for you, so you may be disappointed in the results you get from using a computer program in building your business plan. How can the programmers of “Super Duper Hot Business Plan Whizzed” or writers of similar books, possibly know how your plan should look since they have never met you and do not know anything about your company?

So, here are the tips that you should keep in mind in order to write an impressive business plan:

- A business plan should be easy to read. A good business plan is a complete business plan-containing all the information but it mustn’t be too long.

- If it isn’t straight to the point it’s a bad business plan. You should specify your objectives in simple sentences.

- Your plan should be realistic. If you put in unrealistic sales goals or unrealistic expense budgets you will scare off the person or company that you are trying to convict to invest in your business.

- You shouldn’t make complex financial models-for example planning the finances for next few decades. Particularly in this age when technology is evolving so quickly, it is impossible to accurately forecast 3 years out, let alone 7. Concentrate instead on answering these questions: How fast are we going to use the investor s money, when does the company s cash flow turn positive, and what margins can this company earn? If the plan is to include different periods, these can be separately categorized into short, medium and long term plans.

Structure of a business plan:

- Executive summaries which is written after the plan is finalized briefly provides an overview of the business plan in terms of the approach employed and key considerations in terms of business offerings, key staff and expectations in terms of financial results. Introduction consists of a brief description of the business, the policies, mission, vision, purpose and objectives of the business for the specific business period. A short review of the previous business period would be appropriate.

- Marketing analysis. Here the specific industry is assessed in terms of how the business would meet the challenges.

- Marketing plan. What would be the marketing strategy best suited to benefit from the opportunities identified and overcome the challenges foreseen.

- Operations plan. The how and what of the business in terms of structure, location, rules and regulations, key operational processes and such other details.

– Management plan. How the business is to be managed including key personnel, their qualifications and experiences as well as relevant business credentials.

- Financial plan. The dollars and cents that will realize the business including costing and financial projections. Charts and graphs would be beneficial. General Recommendations In putting together a business plan the process must include adequate consultation, gathering of relevant inputs, discussion on strategies, review and validation of information.

Your business plan must be easy to understand, logical and promising that if a friend asked you to invest in this business, you‘d say yes. Most importantly, make sure you record your business plan somehow…whether you write it by hand, type it into your computer, or put it on sticky notes on your wall. Keep it someplace handy where you can refer to it when you are making important business decisions. And, make sure you review it monthly–or, even better, weekly–and update it at least annually.

It is also important not to loose the main idea for your business, and that is one more reason to invest some effort and time in making this kind of plan:

1. Your goals: What do you want your business to provide for you? (time, money, freedom, who you work with)

2. Customers : Who are your customers and what do they want/need?

3. Products and Services : What products/services will you provide to meet customer s needs?

4. Markets : Where are your customers and what do you know about them as a group? “Where” might be geographic, it might be what kind of places they hang out, or where they go to find products or services like yours. What is their age, income, gender, hobbies, family structure, etc.

5. Your Style : How will you reach customers and what will you say? Your methods of reaching customers needs to match with where your customers are–and with a message that they can relate to.

6. Competitors : Where else are your customers likely to get this need met? Find out all you can about how your competitors price, market, and provide service.

7. Your Uniqueness : How will your product/service meet customer s needs differently than your competitors? Consider how your personal uniqueness impacts that.

8. Your Abilities : Of the skills necessary to run your business, what do you do well, and what do you need help with?

9. External Resources : What people/technology/services will support you in the skills you need help with?

10. Fulfilling your Dreams : How will your business provide the kind of working environment you desire, both in how much time you spend, how you perform your work, and how much money you make?

Here s where the rubber meets the road–make sure you can show how you will sell X amount of product or service at Y price, cover your expenses, and reach the goals you set in 1. above.

And let’s remind us once again-why do you need it?

A business plan is a must for an entry level entrepreneur-for it gives you the focus toward your business goal.
This makes your efforts credible in the eyes of the investors or the financial institutions that are willing to finance your project. Your business plan is the proof of your understanding of the business to the investors and financers.
It is also your blueprint for entrepreneurial success. A well chalked out business plan helps you to keep track of your business growth and provides guidelines for tackling the situations when it goes downward.

Always keep in mind that persistence is the key element to success. If you have a good plan and spend enough time and energy on realizing that plan you will soon be privileged to watch your business grow and expend.

Growing old and looking old are just about everyone’s nightmare. They say that it is against social graces to ask a woman her age, what more if you guessed her age five or more years older than her real age. It will really make her world turn upside down..

Before you even panic, here are a few things you can do to prevent these horrifying wrinkles from appearing under your eyes. The least you can do is to drink lots of water and fruit juices. Water is very essential in aiding the body in some basic functions like nutrient absorption and digestion. Do not wait until you get thirsty as it is already a sign of dehydration. Drink water and fruit juice as often as you can. .Exercise improves blood circulation and draws the blood to the surface of the body bringing nutrients to the skin cells and helping to get rid of body toxins through sweating. You need not go to the gym to get the benefits of working out. Brisk walking and jogging are not only free but they are the most effective ways of exercising. .Exercise not only beats stress but also improves the skin. It facilitates improved blood circulation taking the nutrients to the skin cells and getting rid of toxins by way of sweat. Exercise makes the body strong and the skin healthy and radiant..

Sleeping on your face will cause folds in the skin that would eventually become permanent creases on your face. If sleeping on your belly is the only way you could sleep soundly, you can invest in a specially shaped pillow to avoid wrinkles forming on your face. .Smoking cigarettes and drinking alcoholic beverages are a big part of your social life but these are to be avoided or reduced if you’re serious in having that youthful and radiant look. .

Smoking and drinking will not only lead to illnesses like hypertension, liver problems and upper respiratory tract infections. These vices will also rob the youthful appearance of your skin making it appear dry and dull. So if you’d like to save your body and skin from the devastating effects of alcohol and cigarettes, you should already give up these bad habits..Stay away from midday sun or if you can’t, wear sunglasses to prevent the sun’s UV rays damaging the skin under your eyes. Eye moisturizers with sun screen and collagen can also be used to further protect your eyes from sun damage. Choose a product that would suit your skin type to get the optimum result. .

So before even planning to opt for surgical procedures and expensive treatments, exert your best effort to prevent the premature aging of your skin. If you are serious about your youthful look, try to be conscientious in incorporating the above mentioned preventive measures to make your skin wrinkle and blemish free. .

Quite candidly, the perception of many people as well as our own was that a primary determinant of the affordability of LASIK was strongly related to the cost of having it done. We wonder if centers that charge slightly more or less than others benefit or are hurt by placing financial stress on the patients who elect to choose them. We are concerned about how important the cost of the procedure weighs in the average patient’s decision. Therefore, we decided to model the costs of LASIK at our current charges for the procedure as compared to the costs of glasses, contacts, solutions, and routine eye care to see just how much of a premium was involved for those who choose this option. We expected LASIK to cost more, and were very surpised just the opposite. The bottom line — having LASIK saves you money!

When we started looking at the actual costs for eye care over a lifetime we knew that there was a significant cost to glasses, contacts, solutions, and examinations for this care. We also knew that there are costs for LASIK and the costs associated with this care as well. For this reason we never put pen to paper and we were very surprised at our findings.

After a very conservative analysis these were our results:

A 20 year-old could save over $48,000 over his/her lifetime with LASIK LASIK could pay for itself within 4 years (if you wear prescription eyeglasses, sunglasses, and use contact lenses) LASIK is even cost effective for most people in their 40s and 50’s!

These statistics are based on the average U.S. life expectancy of 77.7 years, and our own estimates of vision correction costs based on current average industry prices and recommendations.

These are the basic cost assumptions of this analysis:

Prescription Eyeglasses: $200 every other year Prescription Sunglasses: $350 every other year Contact Lenses: $40 every month Contact Lens Supplies: $12 every month Annual Eye Exam (also applies to LASIK): $105 every year LASIK Cost: $3,500

Actual prices will probably vary from our calculations, based on what your situation – your annual visits may be more or less expensive than our estimate, and you may pay a different amount for glasses or contacts or buy them at in less frequent intervals – but we hope that this will be helpful for anyone who is researching the costs and benefits of LASIK.

Importantly this model includes important eye examinations AFTER LASIK which add costs to the LASIK choice, but is far outweighed by the other costs. The savings are probably even greater than calculated because there is an increase or escalation in the costs of things like glasses every year whereas the costs with LASIK are fixed. Even taking into account that a small percentage of LASIK patients may need an enhancement procedure years later, there is still an obvious and significant savings by having the procedure.

What really puts this over the top is the benefit of financing at zero or a low percentage, since the time of financing takes away the large capital cost of having the procedure, and by the time that the procedure is paid for, about half of the savings has been realized. Also, the other half can be covered with the fact that the surgery is tax deductible and/or the use of flexible savings accounts to use pre-tax dollars to cover the costs.

If you want the details, this table shows at ages in 5 year increments what the projected savings over a lifetime are for having LASIK surgery. For instance, a 30 year old would need prescription glasses and sunglasses every two years and contact lenses and supplies totaling almost $53,000. Even with the costs of LASIK and examinations, there is a savings of over $39,000! Yes, some people may not wear contacts this entire time, but it is our experience that most LASIK patients are contact wearers who also have prescription glasses. Also, we are being very conservative on glasses costs. Some prescription glasses from designers with all the bells and whistles come in close to $1,000 just for one pair of glasses.

Based on the estimated costs of this analysis we can see that contact lenses and their associated costs are substantial. This assumption is for daily wear disposable contacts. Obviously for all of those who have significant astigmatism and require toric contact lenses the costs are significantly more. By contrast, anyone who only wears glasses can subtract the contact lens costs from their personal analysis. Even for these people, there is still a savings by having LASIK over glasses alone, or for that matter for contacts alone without glasses. The latter is not recommended in that contact lens patients should always have glasses, at least for a backup should they not be able to wear their contacts. Again, our experience is that most patients have a number of glasses and contacts when they come to visit us for consideration of LASIK. This analysis also does not take into consideration the increased costs of bifocals or trifocals, which are substantially more expensive than single vision glasses.

Based on all of these factors, we believe that on average this analysis is accurate for the average person and thus demonstrates the financial benefit of LASIK clearly. There are certainly many disclaimers that should be made on this type of an analysis and to the extent that we have missed anything important, please forgive us and feel free to comment to this post and we will make corrections.

So how often is there something that you can do which will benefit you for a lifetime, providing you with an improved quality of life AND save you money? Here is my epiphany — I think that at some level patients have realized this fact and that is why so many millions of people worldwide have decided to have LASIK vision correction. Not only for the lifestyle benefit, but also for the financial benefit.

In a broader context, is not a healthier America a better and more cost effective America? Can we learn something here that has broader implications in the health care debate and legislation before us today? The emphasis should be on what we can provide to the American people that is valuable and will ultimately decrease the cost of health care and increase human productivity which will make us net a wealthier nation. This country is based on a combination of a free market economy and helping those who cannot afford to help themselves. We should be able to extend this philosophy to medical, dental, and eye care.

In the meantime, I am happy to learn that LASIK has helped to provide a better life while saving money for all of those who needed it.

Here is the most impressive thing, the epiphany. While $3500 is a substantial amount of money, it is just about the smallest number on this chart. Would it really matter if this was $5,000 instead? Not much really. So the costs for this procedure should not drive the decision to have it but rather whether it is a good idea for a particular person and also picking the best provider to have the greatest chance of realizing these savings. Second, even people who are over 40 years of age still will have a substantial benefit. In fact at age 40 there is still over $30,000 of savings by having LASIK.

Lasik eye surgeries are a collective name for a group of surgical procedures that rid the patient of the use of glasses or contact lenses.

These procedures are expensive, and they do have some amount of risk and possible complications. Yet, thousands of people every year undergo these procedures and get rid of the constant use of glasses on contacts. So, when you consider going for this surgery, you need to consider the advantages this procedure will bring you, and weigh it against the risks.

The advantages of having a Lasik eye surgery are substantial. Here’s a detailed description of them:

1. You will look better to most people. There are some people that glasses look good on them, but for most of us, glasses have a negative effect on our appearance. It makes us look in many cases older that our real age, and in makes us look like a “nerd” (even if we’re not). Many models, actors, TV performers and other people who appear before an audience, used a Lasik surgery to get rid of their glasses. If you feel that you look better without glasses, you should consider the surgery. This is especially true for people who have a high number glasses. These glasses look even worse that the others, because of the glass thickness.

2. Save money. Glasses and contact lenses cost money. If fact, it’s a considerable expanse. Let’s do the math: a box of contact lenses costs about $20 and lasts for two weeks (hopefully). That’s $40 a month, $480 a year. If you are wearing glasses, there are high one-time expenses every time you need to buy new glasses. A new pair of glasses may cost thousands of dollars. All these expenses can be avoided if you do the Lasik eye surgery. You’ll become just like “ordinary” people who don’t ware glasses. They don’t have these expenses and therefore can use their money for other things.

3. Sports activities. Have you ever tries to run, plan ball games, swim, box, wrestle of do any other type of sports activity with your glasses or contacts on? If you did, than you already know that it’s not the most comfortable experience. Glasses and contacts limit your movements and many people who ware glasses refrain from certain sports activities because of their glasses. Having the surgery will allow you to engage in any sports you would like to.

As you can see, I believe that the advantages of getting rid of glasses are huge compared to the minor risks of the surgery and the one time cost associated with it. If you think so too, you may want to start making enquiries about the clinics that perform this surgery near your place of resident.

LASIK eye surgery can advantage many people who experience low to moderate vision problems. LASIK eye surgery is a quick and painless procedure, but there are some risks and complications involved with the surgery.

It is important to understand what happens before, after and during LASIK eye surgery, if you are thinking about having the surgery. It is also advantageous to have realistic expectations of the LASIK eye surgery before the procedure begins.

Most good LASIK surgeons will talk to you and fully explain the before and after procedure. Like most patients, you will probably have many questions about the LASIK eye surgery. The following are a list of frequently asked questions about the LASIK eye surgery.

Am I a good candidate for LASIK?

It depends on many factors for a person to be a good candidate for LASIK eye surgery. When you make an initial appointment for LASIK eye surgery, your eye care professional will ask many questions and take a thorough health history.

Additionally, you eyes and the history of your vision problems will also be a major factor in whether or not you can have the LASIK eye surgery procedure. For people with certain health problems such as autoimmune diseases and diabetes, LASIK is generally not recommended.

A person cannot have LASIK eye surgery if he is under the age of 18. Certain degenerative eye diseases might also disqualify you from having LASIK eye surgery. Your LASIK surgeon will make a decision based on all of these factors. Those who are not good candidates for the LASIK surgery can have poor outcomes.

Are there any LASIK complications?

Yes. As with any surgery or medical procedure there are LASIK complications and risks. Most people who have the surgery do not have problems, however some people do.

Reduced low light vision is the most commonly reported side effect of the LASIK eye surgery. This can cause glowing or halos around lit objects at night. After some time the side effects of the LASIK eye surgery will disappear over a period of time.

There are some long-term LASIK complications that have been report, though they are rare. Some people could experience worse eyesight than they had before LASIK eye surgery.

Will LASIK vision correction eliminate the need for corrective lenses?

The short answer to that is maybe. Most people who have the LASIK eye surgery may still need to wear some form of glasses or contacts. This does not mean that the surgery had a poor outcome. This is normal and should be expected.

LASIK is not a means to totally correct vision problems. It is designed to enhance vision. Those who go into LASIK expecting perfect vision with an unlikely expectation should not undergo treatment.

How much is the Cost of LASIK eye surgery?

The cost of LASIK eye surgery will depend on where you live, the condition of the eyes and what kind of method is used. Those with more severe vision problems will cost a bit more. Generally, you can plan on spending at least $2000 for the LASIK procedure.

Does insurance cover the cost of LASIK eye surgery?

Because LASIK eye surgery is considered elective, most of the time, insurance plans do not cover it. Some insurance plans have extended eye care plans that help defray the costs of LASIK eye surgery.

If you insurance plan does not cover the cost of LASIK eye surgery, check with your employer. Some employers offer their employees special rates for going to a certain clinic for LASIK. Sometimes LASIK can be paid for by using a cafeteria plan.

Will I need to take time off of work after the procedure?

Yes, most patients do need to take some time off of work following the procedure. This can vary though according to the work. Most of the time patients can start back to work in two to three days, particularly for jobs that are sedentary.

It will be essential to rest the eyes after surgery, so a lot of computer work may bother the eyes after surgery. You will need to talk to your LASIK surgeon about when you can start back to work.

Does the LASIK eye surgery hurt?

The LASIK eye surgery is quick and painless for most patients. Each eye only takes a minute or two. The eye is numbed using drops and patients will stay awake the entire time.

For those who feel uncomfortable about the LASIK eye surgery, a mild sedative can be given. Most patients are able to walk out of the surgery center after the procedure is complete.

Who would have thought that a man without legs can walk again? Yes, with articial implants, a person who has lost both legs can still walk today. That’s the wonder of modern science. The same goes for those who have bad eyesight. Corrective laser eye surgeries can help you see clearly without the need for eye glasses or contact lenses anymore. Although this does not mean that the blind can see, it is still a miracle of sorts.

When we talk laser eye surgery, we usually think LASIK (Laser-assisted In Situ Keratomileusis) but there are also other refractive eye surgery such as : -

1) Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK) – laser is used to remove tissue found in the surface of the cornea, which is the cause of vision problems.

2) Conductive Keratplasty (CK) – a small probe the size of one strand of hair is used to change the shape of the cornea by shrinking the surrounding tissues.

3) LASEK(Laser Epithelial Keratomileusis), which is a hybrid of photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) and LASIK.

Whatever it is, laser eye surgery will help people who have astigmatism, near or farsightedness, see better.

Due to surging demand, the price for these procedures has gone up in recent years. A reason for the huge demand is the benefits of having good eyesight without the use of cumbersome glasses. A survey of more than 3 million Americans who have had laser surgery claim to live a better life after the operation.

These benefits of corrective laser eye surgeries are :-

i) ability to see well without the use of eyeglasses or contact lenses

ii) makes one look better, thus improving self confidence and esteem

iii) can perform better in certain sporting and other physical events

iv) ability to see clearly when waking up from a nap or after good night’s sleep

v) can treat eye dieseases like glaucoma, presbyopia, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.

vi) no maintenance needed

If you have to wear glasses daily, you will no doubt want to get rid of it. Imagine being able to see thing clearer and not get blurred vision without something hanging on your nose and ears. Even being able to go for a relaxing swim and not bump into something or someone accidentally. Laser eye surgery can make this a reality for you.

Before going for a laser eye surgery, you will be examined by a doctor who will find out the extent of work that needs to be done on your eye. This usually take less than 5 minutes, that’s it. And the good thing is that almost anyone can quality for such procedures.

During the operation, you will not experience any pain since anesthesia will be used. However, the doctor will probably prepare you for any case of itchiness post operation. Some people have the urge to scratch when it itches. This should be avoided so that there will not be any disruption in the healing process that will happen after a few days.

If you are suffering from bad eyesight, it may be time to seriously consider laser eye surgery to remove the need for glasses or contact lenses. Depending on your problems, your doctor may perform LASIK, LESEK, PRK or CK on you. But it is a relatively minor operation and you should be able to return to work after the procedure.
