<a href="http://www.lasiklistings.com/"rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/article_exit_link');" >LASIK, short for Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis, is a refractive surgical process, which corrects a refractive fault, such as astigmatism, nearsightedness, farsightedness, and presbyopia. <a href="http://www.lasiklistings.com/"rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/article_exit_link');" >Lasik centers have gained marvelous fame and <a href="http://www.lasiklistings.com/"rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/article_exit_link');" >laser eye surgery is at present the most frequently performed refractive correction method in view of the fact that it has a soaring accomplishment rate, fast visual recuperation, and minimal risk. Lasik surgeons handle this surgical course of action projected to decrease the patient’s reliance on contact lenses or eyeglasses.

There are four types of Lasik procedures. The standard plano-scan Lasik, which is the most reliable and the most economical method of a Lasik operation, is suitable for most people who have nice, thick corneas, and normal levels of myopia. Aspheric Lasik, which is the latest iteration in Lasik treatment modalities, gives better quality vision and saves on the amount of tissue used. Tissue-saving Lasik is a very useful form of laser eye surgery because it allows patients with thinner corneas to have full myopic or astigmatic treatments, yet retain enough cornea for structural safety and for possible Lasik enhancement. Wave front Lasik, on the other hand, is helpful in selected patients who have high levels of pre-existing aberrations in their visual system.

The Lasik procedure itself is a quick painless procedure that takes less than ten minutes per eye. It is strongly recommended to have both eyes treated consecutively on one occasion since patients adapt better during the recovery period when the eyes are balanced.

There are two ways of making a Lasik flap: the tried and tested microkeratome that uses an extremely high quality blade to make incredibly conventional flaps; and the newer, much hyped Intralase method, which uses a very expensive laser to make the flap. The microkeratome is the vastly recommended way because it is safe and predictable at a reasonable cost. Whereas, the Intralase adds about $500 to the cost of the procedure, and has potential problems of greater inflammation and photosensitivity.

The entire Lasik process is fundamentally easy. This is because the management is completed under the flap and the topmost coating of the cornea is not bothered. Only a small uneasiness is experienced following the operation and the visual healing is rapid. Consequently, this allows the person to go back to work in 1 to 2 days after surgery.

After the procedure, a patient can go home after half an hour or so. When the anesthetic wears off an hour or two later, the eye may feel uncomfortable, scratchy, itchy, and may water a lot. This is actually normal and eye drops are given to counter this. In most cases, by the time evening comes around and the pain has settled, the patient may be able to go out for dinner or even watch television. Still, it is also good if the patient will try to take a nap for an hour or two after the surgery.

Lasik has gone a long way in terms of its success rate and effectiveness. This is a procedure that is similar to carving a contact lens on the eye. Nevertheless, prior to getting a Lasik operation, a great deal of significant effort needs to be made as a component of the pre-operative assessment.

There are additional vital procedures that need to be carried out previous to undergoing a Lasik surgery. The most essential of these is the corneal topography. The ORBSCAN II by Bausch and Lomb and the PENTACAM by Oculus are two systems on hand that could dominantly perform this.

Plastic surgery has undergone a change lately. When I first started training 15 years ago, I met only a few men who wanted to go under the knife. Plastic surgery was the domain of young women working on their bodies, and women over 35 refreshing their faces. Men picked up their wives and girlfriends after the procedures. They stayed away from the operating room themselves.

Not anymore. Last year more than 1,000,000 men had plastic surgery procedures, according the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic surgery. The number is growing: I see more and more men every month. Sports Illustrated now sits with Vogue in our magazine rack.

Men are turning to plastic surgery to feel better, look younger, and help with their careers. But just as men are from Mars and women are from Venus in relationships, so too are they different when it comes to plastic surgery. With the wrong procedures, or the right procedures done the wrong way, men wind up looking less like they did when they were in college — and more like their college-aged daughters.

Where women tend to undergo lifts, men steer more toward reshaping and recontouring. Nationally, the top three surgical procedures for men are liposuction, rhinoplasty (nose work), and blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery). Men are going for Botox and skin treatments as well. It does seem that <a href="http://www.rodeodriveplasticsurgery.com/procedaboutmen.html"rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/article_exit_link');" >plastic surgery for men is here to stay.

Even in-shape guys have love handles that tend to scream “flab.” These areas usually can be eliminated with liposuction. Likewise, many men I see complain of fullness in the chest (and I am not talking pecs here) that diminishes their masculine look. Liposuction provides excellent results here too. This surgery can help bring back the abs men had in college.

Liposuction often provides desired outcomes that often cannot be achieved at the gym. Localized fat deposits that are hard to exercise away stand as inviting targets for liposuction. I had one patient nickname my liposuction machine his “mechanical personal trainer.” Results like this are improved still more as men head back to the gym after their procedures. For some men, a <a href="http://www.rodeodriveplasticsurgery.com/proced-body.html"rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/article_exit_link');" title="los angeles tummy tuck">Los Angeles tummy tuck provides even better results. This is especially the case following bariatric or weight loss surgery.

Like rings in a tree trunk, lines reveal our age. In men, they tend to develop around the eyes and forehead. When treated early, Botox smooths fine lines on the face. By weakening tiny facial muscles, it stops the constant pulling that leads to lines on the overlying skin. Though the results only last between three and six months, the changes look very impressive.

When fine lines around the eyes graduate to true wrinkles, eyelid surgery turns back the clock. By removing excess skin and fat of either the upper or lower eyelid, men look refreshed without changing their overall appearance.

Men have different goals from women in seeking plastic surgery. And their distinct anatomy means that simply offering the same procedure to men as women will leave men dissatisfied with the results.

Plastic surgery is no longer for women only, even if some procedures are — such as the <a href="http://www.rodeodriveplasticsurgery.com/mommymakeover.html"rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/article_exit_link');" title="mommy makeover">Mommy Makeover. Men have great results, just like women. But their bodies, goals, and temperaments are different. So the correct procedures, done in the right way, need to be selected to give men the outcomes they’re looking for.

Recently, plastic surgeons have used other procedures other than the traditional facelift, to revitalize the appearance of the face. Compared to traditional facelift methods, other techniques offer patients the benefits of minimal scarring, quicker recovery time, no hair loss, and no visible incisions. The patient usually endures minimal pain.

People can organize their schedules around these less invasive techniques. For these new procedures, the cost can be far less, so more can afford the procedures. Some of the new procedures do not leave as many scars and do not drastically alter the appearance as much. Some non surgical methods can start at $1000 compared to $5000 for a traditional surgery.

Liquid Face Lift:

Many people would like to eliminate wrinkles but are afraid of surgery. Liquid face lifts do not carry the risk of general anesthesia and only take twenty minutes to complete.

The liquid is injected under the skin increasing the collagen production in the deeper layers of the skin. The surgeon uses very thin needles to inject these products within the facial tissue at the target site, as per the table below.

Depending on the patient’s needs, the treatment of the various injectables initially takes less than an hour without sedation, and the patient will be back to their regular routine the same day.

Mid Face Procedure:

A mid face lift addresses the mid-region of the face, and focuses on the areas around the nose, mouth and eyes. The procedure is for those interested in facial rejuvenation for the cheeks and eyelids. This elevates the cheek bone, creating fuller cheeks.

The doctor cuts incisions in the hair of the temple and endoscopes release and elevate the tissue. Many doctors cut a small incision inside the mouth to help in adequate elevation. Because the mid face lift is not as in-depth, the recovery time usually is shorter. There are few visible scars because no incisions are made on the facial skin. The procedure will restore a smooth, youthful look to the cheeks and eyelids.

MACS:

With the Minimal Access Cranial Suspension, the incisions are limited to the crease in front of the ears and the hairline above the ears. Since the area of skin freed from its underlying tissue is much smaller, the probability of bleeding is also much smaller. It has long-lasting results because the soft tissue from upper neck, jowls, and cheeks is elevated and then firmly anchored to the deep strong structures of the temples.

Because the cheeks are elevated and they no longer pull down on the lower eyelids, the eyes recover their youthful appearance. The MACS-Lift is ideal for the patient with sagging of the cheeks and early changes of neck.

Instead of a full facelift, there are other procedures that an individual can perform which create a youthful look. In addition, some patients may want to combine their surgery with other surgeries, such as liposuction, chin implants, removal of cheek fat pad, eyelid surgery or forehead, brow, or neck lift for further enhancement.

Â

Â

The eyes are sometimes known as “glass of the soul” and our most often examined facial characteristic and regrettably the first characteristic to display the indications of facial aging. Normally at the age of 30’s we start to glimpse feet of crows, eye bags, dark rounds under the eyes, wrinkles and the beginning of eyelid hoods.

Â

Traditional artificial surgery known as blepharoplasty will do eye bags removal and turn around numerous of these aging of eyelid alterations although newer procedures utilizing laser blepharoplasty and some of the laser eyelid upgrading methods are enormously advanced procedures for eyelid renovation and exclusion of eye bags removal. Newer, non-surgical eyelid innovation methods for example Botox and non-surgical skin of eyelid squeezing methods for example the Aluma radiofrequency skin squeezing apparatus can advance and help avert eyelid skin of the aging alterations for example wrinkles and feet of crow however prohibiting of eye bags removal needs surgery.

Â

The <a href="http://www.zimbio.com/go/Cj6NoC3jx8i/http:/drseckel.com/surgical-procedures/result-oriented-eyelid-rejuvenation-laser-blepharoplasty/"rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/article_exit_link');" >laser eye lift, which is know now called “modern blepharoplasty”, blends new laser and non-surgical skin innovation expertise to make spectacular eyelid renovation and eye bags removal without numerous of the drawbacks of customary blepharoplasty.

Â

The laser eye raise blends the benefits of almost bloodless laser incision procedures with non-surgical skin squeezing and skin shedding procedures for eye bags removal and also wrinkles and squeezing and drying of the skin of the eyelid. For the first time we might accomplish total eyelid reformation, not merely eye bags removal and hooding of the eyes, but glossy juvenile looking the skin of the eyelid with less wrinkles and a smaller amount of sun impairment and aging alterations and eye bags removal.

Â

In supplement by utilizing the laser to create a minute incision on the interior of the smaller eyelid we can stay away from an evident blemish on the out-of-doors of the smaller eyelid.

Â

Soliciting the improbable formation of eye bags below our eyes would commonly be due to need of doze and misuse of letting our eyes open all evening, certain thing that would commonly be a need in line with things for example work and studies. It is not actually certain thing that types because persons desire them to be there

Â

Who would want to have <a href="http://www.askdocweb.com/eyebags.html"rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/article_exit_link');" target="_blank">eye bags? People who are especially attentive of their general look would habitually try to holiday resort to diverse means for example putting tea sacks, cucumbers and even raw beef to help sooth the shaping of puffy bags underneath our eyes.

A allotment of persons who are inclined to misuse themselves by worrying their eyes might be susceptible to permitting the veins present under the eye tops to pattern and pattern into certain thing persons do not desire to see. Outside the common recourse cited overhead, persons can conceal them throughout the use of make-up. Unfortunately, one time this wears off, it is clear-cut that these brands will finally display up and disclose the <a href="http://www.care2.com/channels/solutions/self/929"rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/article_exit_link');" target="_blank">unwanted sacks formation.

Anyone who needs sleep or has misused his presumed number of hours of normal sleep will meet this. Luckily, they could be prevented. But for persons who find themselves in mess where they have to continue the hours where they must be aroused, possibilities are they have to holiday resort to the alternate assesses to confirm that their eye bags would not be completely revealing.

Â

For those who are keen to try to improve their eyesight naturally here is a compilation of possible things that may help:

Exercises First a word on exercises from the personal trainer

A classic among eye-exercises is what is called the push-up. Here you focus your eyes on point close (e.g. holding a pencil near your nose) then look out at a specific point some distance away (like 20 feet).

However this may not help!

But isn’t exercise good for me, wouldn’t it help those lazy eyes?

The jury doesn’t seem to be out among natural vision therapists as many believe that eye problems originate from straining and overuse rather than under use. Like a person who does too much strenuous exercise in the gym without balancing it with stretching and relaxation activities like yoga or Chi Gung, leading to injury and an unbalanced body, so too can the eyes be affected be overstressed.

So when it comes to exercising the eyes try not to do anything that strains or requires a lot of effort. Try to keep relaxed and curious looking at a many of ranges at different focuses.

Relaxation and positive habits

1. Palming

One of the most effective techniques considered by Bates practitioners is palming.

“Palming” was originally a yoga technique. Bates “borrowed” it and incorporated it into his system of vision improvement after he noticed its beneficial effects on the visual system. Palming can be practised as often as possible – especially when your eyes feel tired after looking at a computer screen or straining the eyes. (1)

Benefits:

Relieves eye strain

Promote visual imagery – for example, visualise your day ahead, making the images as vivid as possible. This activates your right-hemisphere and may increase creativity and promote imagination.

Technique:

Start by being in a comfortable position with good posture (tall, but relaxed). Place your palms over your closed eyes blocking out as much light as possible. Cup your palms, but do not press on the eyeballs. This will put pressure on the blood vessels and reduce circulation of blood and nutrients.

Finally just relax in this position and visualise. (1)

2. Sunning

The Sun is important for our health, including enabling us to manufacture Vitamin D. Eyes (like the skin) that have been deprived of adequate sunshine are weakened. Obviously we can get too much of a good thing and we need to protect our eyes from the sun as with our skin from overexposure. However sunglasses can prevent our eyes from getting adequate sunlight and lead to light sensitivity. The more we wear them, the more we are sensitive to light. Hence a vicious cycle develops. (1)

Benefits of sunning

Dr. Bates recommends that we sun our eyes. We can reduce our sensitivity to light and sharpen our eyesight. Many people have reported that their vision improves after sunning. I do recommend though following these guidelines:

Only do sunning in the morning or evening, never during the hot afternoon sun.

Do a low amount for each session.

How to do

Close your eyes and face the sun directly. Slowly move your head left and right to let the sunshine reach every part of your retina. Notice the sun moving in the opposite direction. Breathe deeply and slowly. Do this for around 30 seconds then move on to palming for about 2 minutes. (1) 3. 10-10-10 rule A common rule used for the office environment in the 10-10-10 rule. Anytime you are focussing on a something close range for around 10 minutes (e.g. Computer screen), take your gaze away and focus on something around 10 feet away for about 10 seconds. This will help relieve some of the near-point stress.

4. Stop staring Heard that before – this time it is to help relieve the strain on the eyes. Bates believed that the rigidity of staring was bad for the eyes. One technique devised by Bates to train the eyes not to stare is swinging. To do this exercise, the patient should focus on a fixed object, then swing the head or the entire body from side to side while keeping the object in view by moving the head instead of the eyes. Alternatively next time you catch yourself staring, shake off that stare, move your head and eyes, take a deep breath in, and return to regular relaxed blinking.

Nutrition Here is a list of foods recommended to improve eyesight (2):

Fish or Krill Oil: A fat found in fish called docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) may help protect and promote healthy retinal function. DHA is concentrated in the eye’s retina and has been found to be particularly useful in preventing macular degeneration, the leading cause of blindness.

Green Vegetables: Green vegetables are a vital ingredient to health. They are believed to help the eyes in numerous ways including: Vegetables contain lutein a carotenoid commonly thought to promote vision. However always consume with an oil. It is important to note that lutein is an oil-soluble nutrient, and if you merely consume the vegetables without some oil (olive, fish, flax, coconut) or butter you can’t absorb the lutein. Green vegetables also contain Vitamin B2 – Vitamin B2. Vitamin B2 is also known as Riboflavin. It is needed for growth and for healthy skin and eyes. (Vitamin B2 can also be found in the following foods poultry, fish, liver)

Eat Dark Coloured Berries: The European blueberry, bilberry, is known to prevent and even reverse macular degeneration, and bioflavonoids from other dark-colored berries including blueberries, cranberries and others will also be beneficial. One food to Avoid: Trans Fat

A diet high in trans fats appears to contribute to macular degeneration. Trans fat may interfere with omega-3 fats in your body, which are extremely important for your eye health.

Trans fat is found in many processed foods and baked goods, including margarine, shortening, fried foods like french fries, fried chicken and doughnuts, cookies, pastries and crackers (2).

It is as natural for the eye to see as it is for the mind to acquire knowledge, and any effort in either case is not only useless, but defeats the end in view.

He discovered that the glasses, or eye crutches, actually prevents the eyes from healing itself naturally. His more than 30 years of research to find an alternative to eye glasses was published in “Perfect Sight Without Glasses”.

Dr Bates had helped thousands of adults and children to perfect sight without the use of glasses. The Bates Method is taught in many countries around the world by Bates teachers who are in one way or another had been taught by Dr Bates, his wife, Emily Bates or their disciples over a 80-year timeframe.

in his writings, Bates discussed several techniques which he claimed helped patients to improve their sight. He wrote that The ways in which people strain to see are infinite, and the methods used to relieve the strain must be almost equally varied emphasizing that no single approach would work for everyone. His techniques were all designed to help dissociate this “strain” from seeing and thereby achieve “central fixation”, or seeing what is in the central point of vision without staring. He asserted that “all errors of refraction and all functional disturbances of the eye disappear when it sees by central fixation” and that other conditions were often relieved as well

Likewise, looking at new information causes the eyes to strain in order to commit it to memory. All day, every day children are forced to absorb new material, whether it interests them or not. They are not given a chance to allow the eyes to relax or take a break. This is where the Bates Method comes in.

Bates’ Method is actually quite simple. He created a large chart full of common shapes and letters. The chart was placed on the wall in the front of the classroom and the children were encouraged to look over at the chart whenever they felt overwhelmed. Even looking at the chart for three minutes a day, takes the strain away from the eyes.

The Bates Method was implemented in a few schools and the teachers noticed a vast improvement in concentration and progress. The eyes were able to relax and the strain was removed. Unfortunately, the school board felt the method was too distracting and the method is no longer in practice. In fact, China is the only country that teaches students vision training.

The Bates Method can be used by just about anyone though. You could create your own chart and place it in your office. Glance at the card several times during the day to keep the eyes relaxed and alleviated the strain on the eyes. Training your eyes to relax will help improve vision today and for the rest of your life.

Good sight is thus the result of a relaxed state of mind and body, whereby the individual person feels a direct contact with the surrounding world through the five senses. Poor sight, on the other hand, is the result of tension, where the person is, to a greater or lesser extent, isolated from the outside world through being locked in a pattern of psycho-physical tensions, such as worry, anxiety, rigidity, day-dreaming, boredom, confusion, impatience, etc.

The practical benefits of the Bates Method are imparted by means of a pupil-teacher relationship wherein the pupil is shown, first, relaxation of the eyes, then the body, and then the body and eyes, whilst seeing. As the relaxation progresses, the mind, the eyes and the body begin to focus together more harmoniously, allowing the sight to improve naturally, by itself, as does the health of the eyes, whilst already good sight can be preserved.

Dr. Bates was a graduate of Cornell University and of the College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York. He worked at various times at Belleview, Harlem Hospitals, Manhatten Eye and Ear Hospital and New York Eye Infirmary. He also taught ophthalmology at the New York Post-Graduate Medical School and Hospital.

It was as a result of this work, examining thousands of pairs of eyes a year and observing many cases where the sight either recovered spontaneously or changed it’s form in inexplicable ways, that a burning desire was aroused to elucidate why the sight changed in these cases. It was from these researches that Dr. Bates discovered that the sight can be be intentionally improved by natural methods, without the use of glasses. In the succeeding years, he discovered and developed the principles and practices to realise this discovery and they became the basic foundation of the Bates Method as it is practised today throughout the world.

Palming: “The simple idea of resting the eyes by closing them is basic to the Bates method. Dr. Bates coined for it the term ‘palming’.

The eyes are gently closed and covered with the palms in such a way that all light is excluded and no pressure is applied to the eyeballs.

The heels of the hands rest lightly on the cheekbones and the fingers on the forehead.

Palming is usually done while seated.

The elbows should be supported, either on a table in front of you or on a thick cushion or two in your lap.

While palming you should feel entirely comfortable, safe and warm. Choose if you can a quiet time and a place where you are not likely to be disturbed.

Become conscious of and do your best to relax any undue tension in the muscles of your face, neck, shoulders, and the rest of your body.

Listen to the radio if you wish, or just allow the mind to wander, keeping it away from anything unpleasant. If stressful thoughts intrude, push them aside to be dealt with later.

Remain with the eyes shut for several minutes. The exact period that suits you best has to be found by trial and error; five minutes is about right, and four should be regarded as a minimum. It can be difficult to judge the passage of time, and some such device as a non-ticking cook’s timer, or one of those electronic watches or pocket calculators which incorporate an alarm, is very useful.

Palming like this should be repeated from three to five times in succession and forms the basis of your daily practice period. Once or twice in the period you might like, rather than merely allowing the mind to wander, to try some visualisation.

Swinging: Long Swinging: “Rotate your body from left to right and back. Eyes, torso and head move together. Turning mostly around your waist. Don’t look at anything as you swing; be aware of movement mainly. Let your eyes go, let your consciousness stay in front of you while you turn. Make sure to keep breathing.”

“There is another type of mobility swinging in the Bates method, sometimes called “long swinging”, which has a rather different purpose [from regular swinging]. It is simple to do, and consists essentially of turning from side to side. Stand with the feet about 30 centimetres (12 inches) apart, the arms hanging loosely, and, lifting the right heel as you do so, turn to the left. When you have reached the limit of comfortable travel, turn to the right, letting the left heel rise and the right one return to the floor. Go on like this until you have performed 20 complete swings. The turning should involve your hips as well as your waist. Keep your arms relaxed so that they rise slightly as you swing. Do not go too fast; try to make the swings smooth, level, and rhythmical.

Keep your eyes open and allow the image of your surroundings to rush past without trying to focus on anything in particular. Nearby objects will naturally seem to move faster than distant ones, and will probably be no more than a blur. Make no attempt to hold on to or fix any part of the image; notice only that everything seems to be moving in the direction opposite to that of your swing.

Sunning: “The Bates technique for relieving photophobia is called sunning, and consists simply of taking sunshine on the closed lids. In this way the retina is accustomed to progressively brighter light, until the stage is reached where the eye can function efficiently over the entire range of normally encountered light intensities. The warmth of the sun and the therapeutic properties of its rays also have a profound and beneficial effect on the health of the eyes and on the ability to relax them

“Practise giving half a dozen rapid and very light blinks, shut the eyes lightly for the space of two whole breaths, and repeat four times. This little routine, practised regularly, twice or more a day, will, especially if followed by a brief spell of palming, help to establish the correct tone in the muscles of the eyelids and develop better habits of blinking. No more than a few seconds should pass between one blink and the next. As a very rough guide, between two and four blinks in each period of ten seconds is about right.

The Bates Method has proved that by practicing these simple methods, just about anyone can be helped. It’s as simple as creating your own chart and placing it in your office. Just by glancing at the chart several times during the day will help keep the eyes relaxed which will alleviate strain on the eyes. By training your eyes to relax will help improve your vision today and for the rest of your life.
